na the cam in that video was a used one the original builder had in and that was mentioned in the original post. I have the tick 215/225 cam in now
sears point is by the rule, I will race there often so I will have to make the car lagit by their standards... until then I can go to sac which is more lax about running..
Ill have the car back tomorrow from getting the cage done. Ill do some update pictures asap after..

finally got to pick up the nova tonight from the shop doing the cage install. I also got the csu e85 converted carb yesterday on before loading it.. started right up and idles perfectly.. unfortunately its supposed to rain for the next 4 days.. I guess I will have time to button up some more of the little things before I get to road test it.. I should get some pictures up tomorrow..

finally got the car out for some test driving today.. I only was able to do some driving in the rain and knew it was a bit lean so went up 2 jets front and rear..

put the chrome on the bottom

well it was a still a bit to lean, I was watching the boost and not the afr and hit 18psi and saw the afr flashing 13 or something and the smoke fallowed.. bummer.. it blew the oil cap off and had oil coming out the exhaust.. figured I ate some pistons..

just silver muffler/high temp..
well I got it all pulled down today, wasn't a lean problem lol
I wasn't to sure when I first pulled the passenger side head off

but I was wondering why there was some marks in the top of the piston on the left side, then I pushed it down lol and pulled it out



got the block too

this was the other side

like I found out why they say 01 4.8's are notorious for loosing rods with 15+psi boost.. thing is it doesn't look like they bent but just broke.. maybe the ex side was finally free enough now..

we have very similar cars it sounds. Where are you located? Im in Sonoma. But mine is a 67, and blow through carbed on e85 and just a baby motor(302 cu in). I am also running a 475, tick cam, tooley springs and pushrods, 243 heads, l33 block, diamond pistons, scat rods, meth injection, pct 3600 stall 9.5 converter, 3.25 spooled 9", houghs t brake 400, tci 4 link rear and tci front clip, 8.50 cage.. lol anyway I would like to see your ride sometime.
heres where im at today, I have the motor almost together. Im just waiting on the cam to get here as the other one got messed up when the 4.8 lost the rods. And come to find out today the studs are different length in the l33 block.. so I have to get those to get it stabbed in and going.

its finally running again.. but wasn't even close to a smooth deal.. Hopefully it lives.. at least for a while.
