Power from timing?

Default Power from timing?

I'm currently running around 13psi on 91 octane (about 8% ethanol) spraying 50/50 water/meth at 15gph. It's tuned to be around 0.76-0.78 lambda on the spray and 10* of timing. My question is, how much additional power could I expect by just increasing timing? I'd like to keep the tune safe as it's my daily driver, but I figure I could safely add 3-5* of timing, if not more.

I wouldn't hesitate to go up to 15 pretty quickly on that build and still be plenty of safe. You can run more timing than that, but start there.

I had a very similar set up on 91 octane spraying 50/50 and it started dropping torque after 14 degrees at 12.8psi. At the time I was running my timing flat across the entire rpm range so I could have probably added a degree or two after peak torque but I didn't want to get greedy. You will pick up power for sure, I made 587rwhp at 12.8psi. If you don't have a dyno or a track to dial it in keep it on the conservative side. Every combo is different.

A friends 370 made 67hp more on a 2deg jump

I know timing makes a BIG difference, I saw a friend bump timing on his x275 car 1* and pickup a couple mph. On an E85 setup isn't timing generally lower than race gas and a lot less forgiving like nitrous?

saw a gain of 30rwtq when i added 2 degrees of timing in right at 4000 rpm mid pull. funny to see the curve spike and hold on the dyno just from adding in that timing during the pull.

this was on a mp112 blower car. 14 to 16 degrees. didnt have a previous pull to compare hp but if it gained 30 rwtq i would guess it would gain near that in hp.

might i also add the amount of knock seen from 170 iat temps was rediculous detecting knocking from only 5 degrees of base timing (timing being pulled from the iat map). took the full 16 degrees of timing with no knock with 120 temps. gaddamn heat soaking blowers
