First Turbo LS Build
1st post long time follower, I am starting my first turbo LS build in an 01' Camaro, I am currently searching through all of the posts trying to educate myself and decide on which motor to start with trying to keep to a modest budget. The car had a turbo LS2 but I bought it without the motor in efforts to build my own. I have the turbo T76, piping, boost control, dana 60 3.55s gears, T-56 Magnum ect, just need to figure out what motor I want to put in between the manifolds. I am intrigued by the L33 considering the bottom end will handle the RWHP I am looking for, 500-600. But the LM7 are easier to come by, even though they will not have the LS6 heads. Anyway I will post pics of the build as it progresses and decisions are made.

I dont plan on having it as my daily driver, but who knows how its going to turn out. I think I am going to go for the LM7, with an LS6 intake and Z06 cam and 60lb injectors. I dont know what heads I am going to go with yet, thinking the 243s should work out if ported/polished.

For anyone still following, I am starting to collect parts to get this car up and running next month. Looks like I am going with an L33, ARP bolts throughout with head studs, LS6 intake, LS7 Lifters, Trunnion kit for the rockers, TU1.5 or TU2 Cam, LS9 Head Gaskets, double spring, double TC, LS2 Lifter trays, push rods, rings, bearings. Going to keep the bottom end stock until next year then the plan is to open it up to a 5.7, forge it out and get a set of the LS3 Heads from Ballistic. Should make plenty of power

As long as you get an engine in good shape, I wouldn't worry about arp rod bolts, rings, bearings, etc. Do a custom cam, ls2 timing chain/dampener, pushrods, tooly springs, head bolts, ls9 gaskets. Maybe open up the exhaust bowl a bit then get good valve job. good luck with it!

If I can save some $ and not do all of the misc. add ons I am all for it. I actually found a gen iv 5.3 with 243's for a good price that I think I am gonna ****** up. My car is setup for a gen iv already but the old motor had gen 3 internals so I am going to have to swap out the reluctor and cam sensor or buy that conversion kit/harness. Either way thanks for all of the input I learn new stuff on this site everyday.

Its not that I do not have the interest to do the research or hit the search button, you mentioned the custom cam I thought you may have a preferred vender, that's all. Again thanks to everyone for the input I will be researching custom cams tonight.
@ BMF I will shoot martin an email when I get closer to assembling everything, my buddy just bought an 87 GN that he is put a Gen iv 6.0 in I think he is going with twins - cant wait to see how that turns out
