Thumbs up Dynoed car today.

Well i finaly got the car dynoed @ 12psi today but the boost is still droping off to 9psi by 6000rpm. I was a little disapointed with the hp #s but i'm very pleased with the curves. Even with the boost droping off i still held power flat all the way to 6000rpms. The big things i've changed that i think helped my dyno from nose diving at 5300rpm is, I changed to cc918 springs, steped up from 2in pipe from the turbo to the cooler to 2.5in and rerouted the crossover under the trans. I also changed from stock heads to 6.0 heads. Now i just need a bigger turbo this poor little 60-1 is way out of it's range.
I still haven't had the car tuned yet so i'm sure there's more left in it.

The graph from norris motorsports is my old one at 9psi and stock compression.

The other two graphs are the ones i did today.

What does swapping stock 6.0L heads drop your static compression down to?

About 9.5:1. I removed some additional material in the chambers to get it down to 9.3:1. The 6.0s also flow better then stock ls1s.

I'm sure once you get the a/f off the bottom of the graft you will see more power and not as much of a drop off. Nice effort!

Yea it was running pretty rich when the boost started falling off. When I got home I pulled some fuel out of the program where it was getting really rich.
I think this is the best TTi street kit graph i've seen as far as holding power through the RPMs.
When i get it to hold 12psi all the way up to redline i'm hoping to hit 500rwhp and hold that all the way to redline. But i don't think it'll hold boost untill i get a bigger turbo.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions why my hp numbers are so low. It was over 90* when i dynoed so that might affect it some but how much? I talked to george awhile ago and he said that even with the little 60-1 I should still be able to get close to 500rwhp out of it. Also anyone have any suggestions why my boost keeps droping off? Thanks.

my turbo,

Got a question for ya, where is your wastegate located? I got that new TTi cross over and they have hte WG right off the passenger side manifold. the stock cross was right at the back of the log.

I was wondering where yours was, and had thought about moving the WG to right befor the flage ala QMP.

Turbo Tech, what is your log made out of?? material wise

with the springs I would think that you could make some power all the way up, is your wastegate leaking? if it is bleeding off pressure that could inhibit total spoolup

you can tell your out of turbo by the way it peaks high then drops off in the upper rpm.
how long till you get that T76

Thanks guys. 69firebird I made my crossover myself and located the wastgate on the driverside about a foot before it goes into the log. But i'm thinking about moving it to the pass side and configuring it a little differantly to see if i can get it to hold boost better. It'll be about a month and i'll have a new turbo so i'll get it dyno tuned then, but i did adjust the PE tables so it's not running as rich anymore. Right now i want to get all the kinks worked out of it. Thats why i'm trying to make sure the boost drop isn't from somthing else.

Did alittle more checking and now i'm wondering if my wastegate isn't leaking like 69firebird said. How do you check the wastegate to see if it's staying closed? I'm thinking that maybe the exhaust pressure is holding the gate open at high boost levels but I have no idea how to test it.

what # spring is in your wastegate now? 4#? Mine is vented to the atmospere so i hear exactly when it opens.

On the latest TTi street systems, the wastegate is located right after the passenger side header/manifold.... so that would good for you to do going forward.

I have a 9psi spring in it now. I had mine venting to atmosphere for awhile and if i put my hand by the opening i could feel a little exhaust coming out but not much. Thanks.

You will notice a little exhaust always getting by the wastegate. Sometimes as they get older they will build carbon up on the wastegate valve seat. Removing and cleaning will allow for a better seal. On the boost drop off issue with the smaller turbos. If you have the wastegate set at 12 psi and your using a 60-1 hi-fi turbo it is only going to produce about 45 to 50 lbs of air per minute this will generate about 450 to 500 fwhp. Sometimes you will see a boost spike if the wastegate valve isn't big enought and running open exhaust. When running closed exhaust as the motor builds power and start filling up the exhaust system back pressure come back against the turbine wheel and slows it down and will cause the boost to drop off too.

I'm not getting any boost spike. with or without the cutout open it still loses boost. So do you think i'm having a back pressure issue? I am still running the 2.5in DP so it's possible thats choking the exhaust.

i think you should go with a 3 inch dp, that would be worth another 20 easy.
