went to the track today with the firebird, it was rained out, so when i came home i pulled out the motor and trans and started throwing together a gen3 5.3 i have that would not run, put a new crank trigger wheel on it with some sockets and a 3lb mini sledge then installed the crank, pistons, rods, and timing covers, i need to get a pan for this thing and i will probably get another spare motor in case this one does not work out.

but thats what i did today haha

Had to laugh when I noticed the harbor freight jack and impact socket set. Just picked some up myself. ******* love that place. Cheap tools FTW!

yeah, i think ill stick with this **** 5.3 i have and see if it starts again, it would not start before, i replaced the reluctor wheel, for the price of 16 dollars into this block lol

i got a set of ls9 head gaskets for free, and i think ill throw used head bolts back into it and stock valvesprings and just see if she starts, if it runs ill do china studs and pac1218 springs.

if it wont run i can nab a running 4.8 for next to nothing.

i bought a PSI harness again since i still have a pile of stock computers i can flash.

i purchased 80lb injectors for 325 and i am goin to do stock tank with a 400lph in the tank, and see how she goes, i plan to if everything goes well, to push this car pretty far, lke built motor and twin 76mm turbos far. i think that would be cool this time.

Matt are you going to run a 8.8 in this one? Do you do anything to beef them up? I have 2 8.8's here and trying to figure out what I should do to them in terms of beefing 'em up.

Why not pick up a 6.0 and put a cam in it with that t-4 76mm turbo that the nova on here is running? He's getting down with that thing. You can get these cars pretty lite too. My box top was 2600#'s with a cage, sbf and a glide w/o me in it.

Or what about something like your buddy with the blue mustang did?

verdict is in, i bought a On3 76mm .96 AR for this pig, and ill be using a 5.3 that i had enough spare parts to build, and most likely the stock 862 heads, re used head gaskets, stock head bolts again, make sure it runs and then do springs and cheap studs most likely.

i just throw in axles and weld the stock diff usually, and put some welds on the tubes so they dont move

i would say the best way to build a rear is buy a 31spline detroit tru trac and moser 31s and disk brakes, and weld the tubes, youll never break going 9s all day and it will drive nice on the street
if you dont care about it, just weld an explorer 31 spline diff and throw in moser 31s, or weld the stock 28 and put in hardened 28s.

if i wanna go faster with this thing all said and done i will most likely pickup another 6.0 block and build it myself

That hayabusa will run 9.2-9.40's with a decent rider. No doubt the fairmont will make good power but gonna need 700hp+with the fairmont and damn good 60 ft. Badasss build Matt!! Can't wait for results. Let me know anytime you wanna hit up the grove or Cecil. I Race my buddies nitrous hayabusa there. I got a trailer to take em both. Travis

You give up on the Micro/Megasquirt stuff or just going HP/stock computer cause of the 80e?

Looks like another great "sloppy" build~

Pics of the Busa?

just because of the 80e. you are spending money any other route to do 4l80e and i am getting pretty good with the stock computer, for a race car or a toy with a th400 the microsquirt is still the best in my opinion because of its features for race car oriented stuff, if you are going to build a turbo driver, i think the stock computer + 80e is way better
