Changed the title of the thread now that Jose has cleared the air on the turbo. We will still measure it but not gonna doubt the turbo man.

Its easy to spot. The unit is a standard Large Frame. You will find the turbine is ~130/106. F-trim with 1.00A/R

1000rwhp on pump gas, but spool will be awfully slow. We are talking the GT55 and S500's would out spool that unit by 500-800rpms easily.

The 1.0 housing actually won't be too bad. There are other things that can help spool as well and a 408 will feed a turbine wheel that large. It being a 6 speed won't help anything, but it won't be impossible to get it to spool.

The auto trans will help a lot. Tell him to do a 3.23 rear gear and a TH400 with a 315/60 and he'll never regret it. With a tight 9.5" PTC 3600 converter he can cruise 2500rpm at 65-70mph all day long.

Martin I'm think about doing a 4l80e with a trans brake. This will be more of a drag car than street car but I want to be able to drive on the street if I want to.

A TH400 is very street-able, with the Converter technology we have these days, it shouldn't be an issue. Plus TH400s are lighter, and generally cheaper to build.

Th400 PTC 3.08s are great on the street. So that Turbo isn't what you originally bought? I hope you gave the guy hell and didn't pay much because tthose gt55s are all over the place used. Maybe return it and Get what you paid for.

It's not a gt55. It's a works turbo. On there site it's a utv-9406. With a custom 88mm compressor wheel. And it may just be me but I don't like the sound of such a low gear ratio. And I might look into a th400.

I have a 4l80 with a 3.08 and a 28" tire. I love it on the freeway in OD. Cruises 70mph at like 2100 rpms or so. Its nice.
