those of you with the AES 390
I have a concern with mine because it is noisy (clickity click and so forth). I will be doing an oil change and will cut the filter open in the next few days. Has great oil psi, oil looks fine ect. is this just noisier due to forged pistons?

We set ALL of our tolerances on ALL of our builds for the thicker 20W50 Valvoline VR1. In colder months, if the vehicle is operated, use a 10W30 of the same brand and line. Gotta watch cold starts in all outside temperatures due to the length and size of the pick up tube. Remember to change oil like Chicago style voting, early and often. Nobody ever came to us and said "my engine broke because i changed the oil too many times."

Todays oils can break down pretty quickly, especially after some aggressive use. The Valvoline VR1 has held up the longest, and the best, even during dyno sessions. Typically we will only "pull" an engine 2, MAYBE 3 times, before changing the oil and filter. Anything less and you are taking chances.

What we need to remember that these are expensive toys. Very expensive toys. You can take care of them however you like. Experience has taught us a few things.
1.Nobody has ever damaged an engine from changing the oil too many times.
2.An oil change is very cheap insurance, the practices we preach only prolong engine life.
As stated earlier, WE only make 2, MAYBE 3 dyno pulls. Not 3. 3 is on a stretch.
