I wonder how much of the higher boost is attributed to studs and the correct gaskets?
Back in 99-2000 I had a 2.3 turbo Pinto that I ran 20-22# through. Pretty much most people were dumbfounded by that at the time. I had "hoops" and a coper head gasket at that time with studs.

Some of the better LS engine builders back in the day would always mention ring seal issues on the aluminum blocks much past 1000 which were mostly talking 5.7 blocks. Now the gen 4 5.3 and even gen 3 aluminum 5.3 blocks are proven well, but I personally wouldn't want a gen 3 5.7 much past 900-1000ish hp even with pistons and rods. My ls6 block held around 970-1000 ish but I never proved it much or used it hard(that was a 383 and torque was almost equal to hp). I'll be tearing down that engine soon to look over some things. Like anything keep the torque down and extend the rpm and it might live longer.

I think for head gasket sealing people always assume the machine shop finish of the block is as good as it needs to be and some better shops are, but not all of them. Ever since I started hand lapping the surfaces in the import world even after machine shop cleanup I've not pushed a gasket on anything I had a hand in building.

Everyone says 700whp on an SBE LS1 is like running around with a grenade with the pin half pulled lol.
My current car has a T6 turbo kit that came off an SBE LS1 car that made almost 1,000whp once and scattered the engine doing it lol.

I'm still running the 7.5 10 bolt...so there's that...

That all depends on you my friend, I've known guys who've made theirs live far longer than expected and other guys who swap them out frequently lol.

I've blown it up once after hooking my boost controller up and did a no lift shift into 2nd gear.

If I drive like I have some sense and roll into it, it will be ok......

I don't have the money for a 9 inch for it at the moment.
