Default another boost plug gap question

and before anyone asks yes I did use the search button and came up with a few ideas already however the reason im posting this is because my tuner is telling me not to touch the plug gap and look for the problem elsewhere.

Car is a 2013 ZL1 with 20.5psi of boost

Basically im getting what sounds like a spark blowout, machine gun noise. I got the problem after installing new plugs since I had non resistor plugs that caused some issues. I put in BR7EFS gapped at .028 and it starts mis-firing. I do have some weird powersteering and stabilitrac message too so there might be something loose somewhere. My tuner is telling me I have a loose ground, but I would think the car would misfire all the time with a loose ground?

Anyways, I didn't know what to doubt so I changed the wires and put in new plugs, TR7IX this time so I gapped them at .030 going by the tuners recommendation and spark blowout or whatever this thing is now worse.

I don't mind going down to .025 to see if that solves the issue but I wanted to know if the whole loose ground thing makes any sense?

I cant agree with you more, not sure who runs such a wide gap with this much boost, at .030 its blowing out spark at very low boost, with .028 it was "better" but still pretty bad, maybe .024 would be good.

NGKs 3346 seem to work good out the box .22 gap, but I only seem to get 2 passes then it starts blowing out the spark again, good luck im still learning.

Seems silly to break your head trying to figure this out before trying a smaller gap. A half hour to regap the plugs will tell you if that is your problem.

i just had similiar issues with my car going from 8psi to 12psi, same symptoms u had, pulled plugs out and regapped to .22, no more weird popping noise in boost and had WAY more power and way smoother sounding, id regap and see what it does,if it dosnt fix it i wouldnt worry about changing it back, i recommand .22 espicially that high of a boost level anyway

I had same issue going from TR6's to BR7EF's, both gapped at 0.028", no other changes. It started breaking up in high boost (7-13psi), not as bad as you're describing though. Went back to 0.028" TR6's and the issue went away. I think a combination of low timing and injecting meth/water made the charge too cold for the colder non-projected plugs. At least that's my theory.
