So i have a 2003 5.3 block and had never noticed
the 5.3 s were missing couple bolt holes on the stock
alternator location compared to the ls1 block.
1. how did you mount the idler bracket
2. did you modify the alt. relo bracket
for a truck alternator?
Im keeping the power steering also so i cant mount
it on the driver side head.
Thanks in advance.

taken from my other thread... i switched over to fbody accessories, in my other thread, it has all the part numbers you need, everything but the alt bolts right up, but you would need the camaro water pump, power steering pump and crank pulley... etc
if you are using an iron truck block, you will need to drill and tap the hole for the front alternator bracket and alternator to bolt onto the block (the aluminum block should have this already)...
I used the following, which came with the right bit and tap (for stock bolts), pilot drill first...

the top hole is the one that was done

![](http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s71/gtsdesigns/IMG_20111111_154234.jpg)
and the alt mocked up before cleaning and painting it

the rear bracket hole is already there and works perfect, with the alt
