First turbo build

Finally ready to start! Which is a better engine base to run stock, 5.3 or an lq9?

No difference other than cubic inch lq9 being a 6.0..if one of those are newer than 05 it will have ls2 rods little stronger than the 04 earlier stuff..can't really say one will make more power than the other in a boost setup if they were na the lq9 cubic inch would make more power but with boost that all depends on how well optimized the setup is

He hit the nail on the head.

The LM7 will be cheaper, and there are a few more laying around for when you break one. I would do the LM7 with an S475 just from a budget standpoint.

Either one will work great i'm a big fan of displacement so my vote is lq9 but I've ran turbo 4.8's and 5.3's and they make crazy power too and are more plentiful and cheap.

One thing to consider if ur gonna try and tune it all your self 5.3 are everywhere 6.0's are getting harder to find plus u usually pay a little for them compared to a 4.8/5.3 so if ur gonna learn on something you wouldn't fill to bad about blowing a 5.3..also ur gonna hear a lot about ring gap and stuff honestly stock ring gap can handle a lot of abuse if tune is good in all honesty on the 04 early model if ur tune is right u will bend rods before u ever have a problem with pistons

Hey thanks guys! The car was a ten second stock bottom end lt1 car so I wanna go faster than that

the 5.3 has 120k and is around 400 and the lq9 has 90k and complete with harness and computrr for 1400.
My goal will be low tens high nines on e85 in a 3200lb car
