Default Tight spaces and air filters

Would like to hear from you guys running in TIGHT spaces.. Im having to cut holes in my fender wells to fit my turbos and there is NO room for filters. This is a weekend warrior car and will be driven on the road 500 or so miles a month. It is making me nervous thinking about drawing air so close to the tire on a street car with no filters..

I think it's a bad idea. I took mine off for 2 passes at the track and hurt a impeller. Something had to get picked up from the front tire. Driving on the street I see problems!

How much room are we talking about? If you don't have allot you can do a screen. Or you could take a flat filter, cut out a circle to fit in front of the opening

four or five inches for total length? What size turbo do you have? I have an s480 and same boat but K&N has the ru-5163 which I think is 5" length.
