Default ls2 vs ls6 intake for boost

would a ls2 be better for boost since it has a 90mm t/b?

Heads will dictate whether LS2 or LS6

And a stock 75mm TB will easily handle 1000hp....so in most cases, no 90mm TB isnt any benefit.

Ahh right, I thought some of the last LS2's had square/rectangular ports.

Nope all LS2 Intakes are Cathedral Port. I would also go with the LS6.

Ls6 is a better intake
The LS6 is a better intake compared to a stock LS2 in a naturally aspirated engine.

But in a turbo/procharger setup the downfalls of the LS2 are masked and will probably make more power due to the larger throttle body.

the performance will be so close that price plays a bigger factor in many cases. a ls6 intake is 300-350$ with a real cheap throttle body, while a ls2 manifold can be found for real cheap but a drive by wire throttle body is real pricey. see what you get a better deal on or already have.

also, research which map sensor you will be using, fuel rails you might already have and want to use, fuel injector height differences and o-ring diameters. dbw or dbc. check the subtle differences between the ls1/6 and ls2 manifolds. they might play a factor.

Well if intercooler piping is 3" pipe and stock 78mm is 3" how is the opening to a huge cavity (the intake) a benefit if majority of the whole system is only 78mm? Ls6 for its better design and flow

People did tests years ago.

LS6 outperforms LS1 under all circumstances. n/a, boosted, everything

The LS1 must be pretty bad internally.

Ahhh, I was always told, "The difference between them comes out to about 1 psi of boost. Not enough to spend the extra money on, just turn it up 1-2 psi."

Interesting. Thanks!

LS6 swap shouldnt really cost very much, so would be hard to say it isnt good value.

Swap to an aftermarket is a different story

I think people pushing LS motors to 30psi is fairly rare, regardless of intake.

Certainly 20-25psi doesnt seem to pose a problem to the LS6. Cant comment on the LS2.

I know of one tuner who is pushing 37 lbs through stock ls6 intake. The ls6 is a more efficen in the upper rpms so naturally it makes more power at less boost. Why would anyone want something less efficent, i dont know. As for the ls2 its a multi piece ibtake and has been known to cack/seperate under boost
