It was $1200 to my door. But that was designed specifically for my set up on a race car. If you call them and talk to Gerard and tell him your set up he will tell you exactly what you need from an intercooler to optimize your set up. FYI, he told me if you drop more than 1.5 psi due to the intercooler you do not have the right intercooler for your application.

All vertical style coolers have to have the end tanks on top and bottom

Lol no I am talking about sprayed's cooler

I thought I saw a closeup of it awhile ago and it was a tube fin horizontal which would explain the horrible pressure loss

I thought he had a rear facing discharge and entry on the end tanks. Mabey it was someone else

I believe mine is the crappo tube fin horizontal deal. Sure fit well in my setup though. And seemed to make 25lbs at 6k+ on my 5.3 with the "83" s475.

I found sprayed's intercooler. It is a bar plate type but the endtanks are pretty horrid.

Ya the end tanks are special, lol. You know what's awesome, it was like $150 IC and a large well know speed shop with a horrible employee convinced me to spend $400 on geting those end tanks done.

Oh to know what I know now 5 years ago.

I wonder if that's the whole issue.

Was looking at IC’s all day and got to thinking…

Is the power to dollar investment really sound on this kind of upgrade? Seems like most people don’t run enough boost that a 3-5lb loss across the IC is a big deal. If the charger can easily handle the additional 5+psi to compensate and your IAT’s are in check... who cares about pressure drop?

I could see if you were in a turbo limited class trying to squeak out every last pound of boost from a specific setup. For the average joe street/strip car though it seems like it would be more cost effective to run the restrictive cheap intercooler and raise the boost.

In the OP’s case… Assuming his charger is maxed out at 25lbs (which I doubt) Could he not retain the $140 IC and spend his money upgrading the turbo instead?

Here is my thought on that.

Its all about back pressure. I have the backpressure of the car running at25- 26 psi but Im getting 20psi in the intake.

What is that actually worth real world? No clue, but ya I hear ya. To spend 1500 or even $1000 is go down to a 2psi drop, not sure if its worth it.

If you weren't running a high duration/overlap cam to take advantage of the lower back pressure though I wonder how much power is really gained.

Then again look at what "silver82" has accomplished with no intercooler or meth on e85.

That's my situation to a T. I am running in Real Street and it's a 76mm max. Most everyone is locking the wastegate closed and running on everything the turbo can do. But I also look at it like this for a street car or race car.....if you build a car with the attitude of "I'm only losing 3 psi what's the big deal" by the time you have modded most everything on the car how much performance have you sacrificed due to corner cutting or the **** it attitude. Maybe I'm different but I spent 2 weeks whole sawing on my car to save 5 lbs.

Heres the thing you aren't loosing the boost that reaches the intake because you up the controller to get to what you want.

Your adding to the amount the turbo has to work to get there. Sure straight up losing 3 psi of boost would be huge but that's not really the case.

If I had the cash I would like to do a back to back test of my ic and one with lets say a 1 psi drop.

But in the test to be fair I would have to adjust the controller to make it the same boost at the intake. Wonder what the difference is power would be.

I run an ETS core, about the same size as that Treadstone. 90° ambient, goes up to about 135° at 21-22psi in the throttle for about 10 seconds. I will be trying out that Treadstone within the next month or so though. I'll have more information on the ETS at 25-26psi, too.

That's really good, any idea what the pressure drop is?

Wish I could tell you, but I don't really monitor that. I usually just do the minimum necessities for gauges...otherwise all my stuff would be wired up worse than a christmas tree I may hook up a pre-IC gauge when I turn up the boost on the ETS setup, though.

I don't have a permanent gauge for that either. Just an extra boost gauge that goes ti 60psi. I just run the line to the outside of the car and watch it when the tuner goes wot.

Or have a friend hold it and go for a highway blast

He is also running an asston of turbo

He is running the same boost as you and is 400lbs heavier and is going 7mph faster. It makes a difference trust me
