Default Quietest SC'er that will push 15-16psi on a 390ci.....

Just curious which one won't scream so loud you can't hear the stereo.....lol

But make enough psi to be worth it.....

....Looking for bolt-on kit if possible and MUST keep A/C.

-I can run full time E85
-My 390ci will be about 10.2:1 cr after new heads go on.

Might have to scrap my idea of TT......Im based in Kuwait right now, and I'm going to be out of the country 6 months a year. I nice 700-800RWHP SC'er build might better suit me so I have it to drive when I'm home on my OFF DUTY weeks from time to time.

Thanks.

If you want the power without the noise, most would recommend a turbo setup. That being said, most makers of centrifugal chargers actually make quiet versions. I think Vortech makes some that do a pretty good job of keeping the noise down.

Are any of them that loud ?

I have a YSi, and yes you can hear it, but inside the car it certainly isnt that noisy. It's louder outside than in.
And with it's straight cut gears, would be one of the louder units ( also made worse by spinning it quite hard )

Buy any with the helical cut gears, and I'm sure they'd be pretty quiet. Or go turbo

F1a procharger was too loud for my liking, made me go turbo. Idling at stop lights and just cruising around it sounded like a meat grinder. In boost and on the throttle the exhaust was louder. I disliked it very quickly. Turbo is the way to go if noises annoy you.

Is anyone making a single turbo kit that retains A/C......that is more or less a bolt-on kit. No crazy fabbing.

800 RWHP capable.....?

Novi 2000.

Guy I worked with had one on his C5 with a 416 and a flip drive and it made like 16-18lbs. No one knew it had a blower until he popped the hood.

Will it fit under the hood of a WS6 without cutting the cowl...?

Is it a full bolt-on kit...?

I'm running a normal, straight cut gear D1SC, make 750rwhp (with boost leak) and it's definitely a mangable sounding setup. With helical gears it would be even quieter.
Don't focus on the psi it makes, since a bigger cube motor will eat up the psi. For me, at 750rwhp, I was right around 17psi on a 347, so on a bigger motor, it might only be 12-13psi, but that's actually a good thing. Less pressure, is less heat. I'd rather make 750rwhp at 12psi than at 18psi.

Here's a normal cruise around the neighborhood... you can hear the blower, but it's not crazy loud. I like it. With helical gears, it would be far quieter.

Thanks. So can any SC'er be ordered with Helical gears?

It would fit but it take some custom work to make a corvette blower system work on a F-body.

Only the P1SC and D1SC can be ordered with the helical gearset.

From what I have heard so far they are quite a bit quieter than their straight cut counterparts. If I decide to go centri of a turbo it will have the helical cut gears.

Once installed is it hassle free?

Will it make 800 RWHP on my 390ci....?

I'd really like to find a 100% kit, ready to install everything.

The Procharger is pretty much the only kit out there.D1 can have the gears changed but I still think they are loud.

For a true 800rwhp I would never trust the ATI bracket or coolers.
We build our own kit's in house that are D1, Aster bracket, custom front mount with aluminum pipes that does not affect airflow to radiator at all, dual fans ect so it cools correctly for 100 degree heat. But we only do them on the cars.

Haven't seen a good bolt on kit out there.

With a procharger setup, it really is pretty easy to put a kit together. You need the head unit, bracket, head unit and crank pulley, belt, radiator fan setup, intercooler setup, blow off / bypass valve, and then the standard fuel upgrades if you haven't done it.

That's it. It really isn't tough putting all those things together. Bob@Brutespeed has it already if you want to go that route.

I like the stealthyness of a turbo. Superchargers are cool for a little while, but pissed me off when I would fire it up in the garage or a small drive. That's what made me make the switch. Glad I did.

I have the D1SC-H (helical gears). It was a $100 option over the D1SC and it's very quiet. No chatter or whine. You can tell its there as there is a slight wrrr-ing noise for lack of a better description.

Quick Reply: Quietest SC'er that will push 15-16psi on a 390ci.....
