Yet cast iron is the original turbo manifold and still the choice of oem. What did they weld those log manifolds with?

I use stainless as you can see, but mid still has lots of good attributes. It at least deserves consideration where some lacks the equipment or skill to work with stainless.

Funny part is most truck manifolds folks use are not cast iron but cast steel I believe....least it welds like steel.

When ordering from mandrel-bends, what grade SS are most people using? Also, what size v bands do you need for the truck manifolds?

I use sch 10 but it's really a bit much just wanted something durable. As for v bands you can get 2.5" ones from rps and weld them on

Ok, I seen they had different sizes of the v bands on that site and didn't know which ones would be correct. I was looking at using the mild steel for my tubing. Not cause of price, but cause all I have is a flux core/mig. I did see some SS flux wire though that Lincoln produces. Never tried it but all piping will be wrapped. Not worried about appearance.

Consider the gas turbo pipes see...superheated carbon dioxide, water, nitrogen, plus some other scarcer stuff like OH, and CO. Corrosion happens much faster the hotter you get as well.

Not trying to stir anything either, just putting out information. I have a mild steel sch40 log and 304 crossoverpipe and downpipe. The log, even being thick *** sch40, has had to be repaired because of cracks and leaks and not to mention looks horrible because of the outside coking and flaking off. The stainless parts look brand new, just goldish in color.
What if you get the mild steel ceramic or jet coated? Then its corrosion resistant, correct?
