Yeah it is a very well built C5Z diff with the ECS billet carrier... Pretty sure it broke the left side axle. I'm pulling it all out today. Hopefully it's just the axle

Dam Alan! I was seriously considering FI'ing my C6, but think I'm going to pass on it. I can only imagine how much $$$ you've laid out just in the rear end of that car!

Here is the verdict....:

One dead 300m axle...

AND the usual look of this car:

Gotta get this out somehow...

Time to order up some parts and send the converter back to FTI to have it tightened up a bit... Try to get a little more MPH...

Weld a bolt to it and then slide hammer it out. I would say drill into it but I know 300m material is hard!

Wow, I would have to think it was flawed somehow.
Are you the first to break one?
Who made it?

This is an EATON Billet carrier with their own 300m shafts.. However I have broke 300m shafts from DTE and the oem C6Z hardened shafts... I've also broke a 9310 G Force Mainshaft in a MN12 trans... You name it, I've broke it.

Now I can't get the broken piece out of the CV... Tried welding a bolt on it, wouldn't hold, tried drilling/tapping it, too hard a metal... Now I'm stuck..

Weld the hell outta that bolt. Other than that, you can try a machine tool supply house to get the necessary bits/taps to work on that "harder than superman's dick" material.

Maybe a bias ply slick would take some of the driveline shock better than a drag radial next time out?

Bummer about all the diff/axle/trans carnage.... but that is synonymous with C5 Vettes at that power level.
You car is absolutely hauling *****. One good hit and it should run a high 8!

OUCH! That stinks. I'm guessing the splines are twisted in there, hence why it's not wanting to come out.
