Thumbs up Twin Turbo TA Upgrades

As some of you may know, I sold my last project back in August. Then bought this new one shortly after. I love the car and setup, I just needed to change some things up on it I really didn't like.

Setup as it came with the car;

• Forged 347
• Ported and polished 5.3 heads
• ARP head studs
• GM MLS head gaskets
• Comp Cams 220/224 .564/.568 115 lsa, custom turbo grind cam
• LS6 intake manifold
• Full A/C, heater, etc.
• 12 bolt
• 58mm Precision turbos (2) – T4
• Custom built, thick walled stainless steel headers
• 3” Stainless steel downpipes, connecting into 4” stainless exhaust, then dumped before the axel
• Stainless steel charge piping
• 2in – 1out air-to-air intercooler (polished)
• 38mm Tial wastegates (2)
• 50mm Tial Blow-off valve
• eboost2 Electronic boost controller
• Twin 255lb Walbro fuel pumps (2)
• Custom pressed steel-braided fuel lines
• Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
• Aeromotive fuel rails
• 83# high-impedance fuel injectors
• Mallory fuel gauge isolator
• Snow Performance Boost Cooler methanol injection kit

Here's how the car came when I bought it;

Car had completely stock suspension down to the torque arm (other than a bmr k-member), so as soon as I got it, that was my first priority.

Installed;

BMR torque arm
BMR torque arm relocation
BMR panhard bar
BMR front upper and lower A-arms
BMR rear lower control arms
BMR rear lowering springs (with hose mod)
Strange single adjustable shocks (front and rear)

Soon after getting on it for a bit, the trans had some......... slight issues lol

Rebuilt the tranny with a stage 2 kit, and installed a RPS Twin while I was at it.

Car came with a custom kit with log manifolds that keeps all accessories in the factory location which I really liked. Cold side was in stainless so I wanted to redo it in aluminum to try and keep IATs down a bit. Couplers kept popping off the old system so I re-made the coldside to only have 4 couplers instead of the 10 it had before lol.

Switched to an Edelbrock Pro flo intake. And I'm using the old fuel system I had on my last car, along with a few other things.... here's some pics. I'll keep updating when I'm done which shouldn't be too long.

battery relocated to the back;

new valve covers (doing coil relocation as well) welded -12 bung for a catch can and painted black.

Nice looking ride! It is so nice having everything the car came with. I don't care what anyone says AC makes a street car a street car.

For sure, when I got the car everything was intact, even the spare lol. Even drove it in the rain one day when some it poured unexpectedly... unfortunately lol. But I could daily it if I wanted to, it's so docile with the small cam it has.

Anyways, next step is to make the rear look like my last car lol, fuel setup will be next, and I'll have a startup vid soon...

old fuel system going in it

I was wondering what ever happened to that twinturbo build when it was started by the previous owner. That's not the same car which the turbo kit was originally built for, was it? Anyway, judging from your previous build, it's good to see that you ended up getting it.

Looks really good. Still a t56? if it is, what tire size and rear gear are you running now? Looks like a 28" tire in the back.

Yep, still a T56. It came with 3.08s in it and I kept the rims and tires from my red car. M&H 325/45/17s in the rear, 28" tall.

After I get all these few things finished, it'll go to Jon @ DBRods for a gear swap to 3.42s.

How was it with the 28"/3.08 combo? The puts you at a final drive of like 2.50 lol. My 26"/3.25 makes 6th gear useless under 80mph.

The reason i ask is cus i want to switch to a 28" tire on the street for traction but it would drop me to the equivalent of a 2.73 rear gear. Any idea on how much tq the car makes?

I am glad to see you back in the game. What made you bail on the red car if you don't mind me asking. I was a big fan of it except for the no ac thing.
