Best single turbo for high hp LS1?
Please give me some advice here!
In my race car I'v got a LS6 block, stock ls1 heads, Comp Cam LSR277, Lucas 86 lb injectors, Eagle forged rods, Mahle forged pistons, Patriot Performance valvetrain kit, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Moroso oilpump, Holset HX50 turbo, Snow Performance Methanol/water injection, Bioethanol E85 fuel.
The engine runs great, plenty of power.
The Holset starts working at 1100 rpm.
But I'm loosing a couple of psi from 5500 rpm and up. (peaking at 14-15 psi) at 10,5 wb
I'll guess that I get too much back pressure.
Anyway, the Holset is i heavy truck turbo and I want to replace it with a better race turbo.
What would you suggest with T4 flange?
I'm aiming for 900-1000 hp
Thanks!

People have made close to 1500 HP with T4 flanges.
Borg Warner S475 out of the box is rated to around 1000 HP. The billet S476r is a favorite among classes that only allow a turbo up to 76mm. Its rated to 1200 HP. Get the 96mm wheel and you won't have much issue even with the T4.
You're going to have a real hard time finding a turbo as reliable of the BW units and they are also great bang for the Buck.

My all stock but cam ls1 makes near 900 with the cheap s475 96mm turbine t6. Its the 650$ one lol. Made 775@16psi. I run 21psi on the street. Pump gas/meth. Awesome turbo. Never had a problem. Makes peak boost by little less than 4000rpm. Makes 16 psi @ 3500rpm. Just giving you info on have it reacts.

not to confuse things but depending on what hx50 you have it will probably be a much smaller turbo than even a bw475 so you might expect considerably more lag, at that you should consider a higher stall like a loose 4000 to get the throttle response back to what I think is very important in your racing, or even a small nitrous system that can be used by a button and under full throttle toggle to erase the lag time and instant throttle response.. just my 2 cents coming from what works to fast spool big turbos in the diesel world
