Default 4th Gen Formula and an S475, will it fit with everything?

I've seen S475's in cars and the housings are HUGE. Has anyone out there ever successfully installed one in a 4th gen F-body and still had room for the factory AC, a large radiator and FMIC?

I would love to see some engine bay pics of whatever anyone has done successfully. I brought up that its going into a Formula because of the slightly different front bumper design. I think this doesn't have as much room as say the Camaro's do.

Thanks for the link. Looks like he was able to get it done, but in the end he had to go with a MUCH larger radiator and had a lot of trouble with finding the room. This is what scares me about going with the S475. But it looks like although difficult, its not impossible.

Any links to it done on a Firebird?

it can be done...it will either have to be mounted low and run a scavenge pump or relocate the battery and mount it in that area. No matter what some creative fab work will have to take place. I dont have ac and my radiator is vertical and I also have to run a pusher fan setup.

I think for the amount of fab work involved (and I want to run an air filter also), I may be better off going with something smaller just so it will have less issues with fitting with all the accessories.

That rad isnt very big, and can be fitted under the rad support with about an hours worth or grinding. Gives you much more room to work with

I'll probably hav to do this regardless of what turbo I go with. I'm just concerned not only with the S475 housing, but with the huge downpipe needed also. I'm not going to be running a pipe out the fender like some do. I might have electric cutouts at most and have the rest go through the cat-back. So at that point I'll have to reduce it. I believe the S475 downpipe is a mamoth 5". So connecting that even to a 3" pipe just for the cutouts doesn't sound like the best idea.

Most that go thru the k-memeber do 5in stepped down to 4in. You can snake a 4in through a turbo style k member. Personally I am running 5in out the fender

I care about looks too much to have a giant pipe gouge through my front fender. I might consider a turndown under the hood though if I can run it through the catback regularly and have an electric cutout.

Right now the car has the factory K-member in it. I was planning on swapping to an aftermarket one when all this madness begins anyways. What turbo k-member are people running?

The BMR turbo K or the PA racing one are the most common.

I ditched all my stuff to fit one but if I were gonna keep things I'd go it battery location. Shoot the downpipe straight out the fender. Cut the frame rail and tube a section out to make room. Get the smaller a/r and turbine may help fitment.

radiator wasnt much bigger, the 55241 is a .5" thicker core than a 25241. the reason it was a pain was because everything was originally built with the 25241. if i had started with the correct one it wouldnt have been an issue.

but yes, getting everything in there is a tight fit
