Default What would last longer???

I am debating on what blower pulley to get when my spring tensioned 8 rib setup is finished here in a couple days.
At first i was wanting to use the 3.7" blower pulley and spin the motor to 6800 rpm's, but i got to thinking and talking to a few buddys of mine and i was thinking about going with a 3.4" blower pulley.
I was thinking of going with that pulley and shifting sooner say 63-6400 and save bearing life in the head unit and motor life..
My new motor setup is a Iron block 370ci with Diamond -15cc 4.03" Coated pistons that put me at 9:1 compression. Patriot Stage II 6.0L heads, and a 230/236 .592/.602 on a 114LSA +4. Give me your input and let me know what you think.
Thanks
Kyle

With that pulley if there is no slipping, you should see more boost at a lower RPM.....

Yeah if you can bring boost in sooner, then why spin it so high? BUT **** it's not like you are constantly at 65-6800rpm all day. Just a 1/4 mi at a time like that cheesy movie says, and even then max amount of time then would be what 7 seconds total for each run(time spent at that rpm per shift)

I might be possibly heading in that direction, I would like to see some proof of boost before the purchase

I like having a blower setup, just need it to work......

you know my take on it.

get the 3.4

it wont slip and you will enjoy having that much more boost at the lower rpms.

like J said where will the car be 99% of the time??? 2,000-6,000 rpm.

with mine even with the p1 I see and instant 5psi as soon as I mash it.

I say get the 3.4 and keep the revs down.

keep in mind the vortech guys. 8rib spring tensioned setup. granted the crank pulley is even bigger but they are using 2.5" blower pullies with no slip!

Nope haven't called them today, I'll let them decided what they think is best and have them throw me the recommendations. I am sure I will hear from Wendy today or tomorrow. But for now, they are hard at work on our set ups.
Bos I will have mine mounted and tested right away. I need to get this car on the dyno to get my tune finalized and then its off to the track again

I am going to get the 3.4". Just like you said in the other thread Heath..... smaller pulley, more boost down low and save the motors life and make it last longer........ I wont be talking to them today unless they call me.... Probably tomorrow ill call if i dont hear from them..... Heath how did you ship yours back to you?? Was it alot come from MD to CA??

I ordered the actual bracket from them. So shipping was lumped in.

Remember my kit started out as a P1 head unit only.

I pieced mine together from various places.

Good choice on the 3.4, your gonna love it.

Hey btw if you guys wanna help a brotha out. If you feel I was enough of an influence in your purchasing decision to consider me a referal let Wendy know. They have a referal program and will kick down a few bucks. Every dollar counts these days Thanks!

hey kyle, when are you going to the track? dont you want to get a NA time first and then see how much the blower helps? i know that it is not really set up for NA but still would be intereasting. or did you already go to the track on the new motor?

Steve,

Im not even going to run it on motor at the track..... im not even going to tune it all motor first..... when it goes ont he dyno it will be tuned as one with the blower. The reason is like most people $$$$$ I would have to pay the tuning fee of $75 that MTI has now because so many stupid people were taking advntage of it and going back for a tune when they only changed a throttle body or something...... So i plan on paying thr $75 fee then its $75 an hr for the dyno...... Jayson will tune it using wideband and it should take at least an hr if not more....... I cant wait because i know those big *** 60# injectors are really working im running rich as hell under load. Im fine at idle..... my LTrims are -1.6 on both banks. My gas milage should go up after the tune..... its under 10 MPG now...... Were going to the HRP because were in Houston and my Birthday is that weekend so we might as well and i want to see what Charlie and Roy run.... Were putting Roys Cam and LT's on the weekend before and hes getting his car tunes too. Im just going to baby it out of the hole and see what she traps 1/8 mile because i dont have a cage yet either....... 12 bolts next, but it will take a few months for me to save and then a cage..... the the new tranny........ Hows yours comin along?

Hey Kyle, I thought MTI grandfathered that policy about the $75, wasn't your first tune with them back before that rule??? (Not sure if they changed that or not)
