Default How to plumb catch can

I know a lot of people have talked about this already. I've tried to do a bunch of research on this to find the proper way of doing it but cannot. There are so many designs and different ideas of how to do it. I have a single vented catch can and want to know the best way of using it.

But is that not using the benefits of the pcv? This is a photo of how others have ran it. I'm just looking for the correct way that I can utilize the pcv.
