Y pipe makers....HOW MANY OF YOU GUYS "FLEX"
And by flex, I don't mean in the mirror, lol
When making Y pipes, how many add a flex joint? How often do these crack without a flex? I'd prefer to have both sides support the turbo but I don't want to keep chasing cracks in the exhaust either.

I put a flex on mine. It's just what you're supposed to do. It gives you a little play if your pipes moved around a little while welding, but more importantly, it allows for thermal expansion of everything.
Can you get away with not having a flex? Sure you can, but it's not the right way to do it.

I have and normally would... However i didnt on this car just to see what happens. I noticed Tig welding the pipes did not move like they did back when i was mig welding.
however, they did move some and made life hell. I most certainly do have plans to put a flex in my crossover, just of matter of when i feel like doing it at this point, now that its running, i hate to take it back apart until i have to.
