Default Help not sure what to do vortech ysi

Hello I currently have vortech g-trim and I'm at 610hp 596tq my dads tell me I should do a 383 stroker but I was thinking to get vortech ysi but my dad says I'll get more tq from my 383 stroker so my question is what you guys think would be a better route to go 383 stroker or vortech ysi

So your asking about upgrading to a YSI vs putting a 383 behind the current blower?

So what engine do you have now ?

And is it more power, more torque or what exactly do you want ? And can the rest of your setup handle more of either ?

If the rest of your combo (engine, trans, rearend, fuel, etc...) can handle the YSi then it will produce a lot more power than a 383/g trim setup.

That is what I was going to get to. If the current motor is built then go YSI, its going to be more power.

If you already have a forged motor, there is hardly much point stripping the entire thing just to gain a few cubes.

But yes it would give you a low rpm torque increase if that's what you really want. It will not give you any more top end power though, as for the most part that is dictated by the blower.

So options...complete engine stripdown, or simply a bolt on swap for the most part.

Really...cant be that hard of a decision ?

is it generally more power you want, or more low rpm torque ?

Too much midrange torque isn't always a good thing. All it does is blow off the tires if your suspension and tire setup isn't up to the task.

My vote is for the bigger blower if your current motor can handle the increase in boost.

I wouldn't do a 383 if you are set on a new engine. I would go 408. It seems like you want someone to say yes 383 will make more torque so you can feel good about doing that.

The fact you already have a forged motor I vote bigger blower. Build a bigger cube motor when your current engine gives up the ghost.

How much torque do you want?

I'm on a small D1SC, and with boost leak, I still made 700ft/lbs of torque on a stock cube motor.

If you want it to be more responsive at low rpm, low boost, put in a set of higher gears.

You will get more, but hardly a **** ton.

Again, exactly what are you trying to achieve or what are your expectations of any upgrades ?

Keep current motor since it's already built. Add a larger blower if more power is what you want.

If you think 30 cubic inches are going to equal a blower that will move an extra 400+ cfm then give it a shot.

Well my builder/dad has done a ton 383 and he done them at 530-540 hp and 600ftq and that's na so if I get that and then my current blower I should be around 750-800ftq and 725-750hp and that will make me happy cuz that's a good range for hooking the tires to the street and it will still be nice to drive
