Default What size Pistons needed??

Trying to fiqure out what size pistons ill be needing for my forged 6.0 lq4 d1sc build.. Ill be using stock crank with callie stock length rods for the bottom

My question is ive got 243s that has .010 taken off with less than 2k on them and plan on using ls9 head gaskets but what piston will i need for the right compression with the d1sc for about 12#s or more boost with a brute speed blower cam???

I would shoot for 9.5:1 - 10:1 compression range. Is this going to be more of a track car or a street car.

I would try to keep the bore size as close to 4" as you can. If the block is straight enough to fit a .010 bored over piston vs a .030 piston I would choose the smaller to keep the cylinder walls the thickest and you can also bore it again later if you have to.

That with a -10cc up to a -15cc piston would put you in the 9.5:1 - 10:1 compression range, with your 243 heads.

Guys have been in the 8's with iron blocks .030 over so i wouldn't worry about cylinder walls thickness. Plus, it opens up your piston options. You say stock length rods. Why would you go that route if you are buying pistons too? With going to a 6.125 rod it allows you to have more piston choices.

I agree.

.030 over
6.125 rods
9.5/1 compression ratio is what I would shoot for
I'd use file to fit Total Seal rings with a steel top ring

Make sure the machine shop has LS torque plates. if they don't, look for another machine shop. Bob

If you go with Wiseco:

Stock pin and rod: 4.005 piston, .945 pin, 6.098 rod, -9.7cc dish will net you a 9.4:1 ratio with a 65cc head which your shaved 243's are less than. Part number for that piston is k0045x05.

You can look up all the Wiseco pistons here.

Diamond doesn't have much stock stroke dish pistons but you can view their stuff here.

98z28cobrakiller went 8.98 with a .030 iron block with AFR 225's. Stock crank, aftermarket rods and pistons. If you go with a stock bore piston. It allows you to grow later.
