I would like to keep the cogs if Lee sent me replacement belts for free.....he wanted to charge me 65 a belt when I can get them for 32 from mcmaster and just found them at a big truck place here in alb for 36.50. Gotta love that markup.

Yea, I'm glad we found that belt source as well........

All I know is that my COG belt was in EXCELLENT condition when I took it off, and my car ran like crap w/the setup on there, and as soon as I took it off things were back to normal.....

I believe the vibration they were feeling was from the belt coming off the teeth, and then once the motor slowed down the teeth then jumped back on the blower pulley....this was slowing my motor down....

Nasty Business.......

well I hope blwnta is able to get his to work properly. I know dirty has a set on order. If I was him I would cancel the order until the SDCE set ups get tested or blwnta gets his working and then make the decision on which way to go.

I posted about the noise in my first write up, and in the follow up one. I was concerned that the cogs were going to cause false KR which they did. I would see 12 degrees on take off and coming up to a stopsign or when I punched it. Not good. When the belt was off the KR was non existant when doing the same things.

yeah no ****, I had to email lee updates on the cogs, never had an email from him asking if all was well with the cogs. I even offered up ideas on how to make the crank cog stay put, but never heard back on that either. oh well, I just hope sdce continues to answer my emails, PM's and generally takes an interest in what I have to say, after I get their set up installed.

Question

I must be missing a part of the story. I thought YOU guys approached ASP to make the pulleys in the first place? They made them and designed them to work with the stock ati layout right?
They proved to not workout after a lot of testing.
So why is it ASP's fault? There is nothing wrong with the pulleys themselves. Just your typical cog pulleys right? The fault is in the layout of ATI'S drive system and a cog drive just doesn't seem to want to workout with it.
Or do I have the story wrong?

Correct Version. I am the one that found these for sale at RPM outlet, they were being made by ASP and sold at RPMoutlet for 480.00. I bought mine from there and got into contact with Lee right away to let him know what my set up was so I was sure to get the right tooth count. SO nope never asked ASP to make them, they were offered to the public by rpmoutlet.com. Rpmoutlet was selling them way too cheap BTW and they no longer offer them for sale on their site.

But other than that, yep you are right, cogs with the LS1 F-body ATI kit is looking to be a big mistake.

Ok, I had the story wrong then. Then they are to blame as obviously they must not have properly field tested the pulley setup before offering it to the public.

Disappointed in the latest news.....We'll see if Lee takes my call tomorrow. I got the next size larger belt today and did a trial fit. TOO LONG! The teeth will make contact with each other (just barely) before you tighten the tensioner or it stretches. I really think it's the right idea though...belt wrap would be the best you could do with this set-up. I'm going to discuss with Lee about a slightly larger crank pulley and/or SC pulley to take up the slack a bit without affecting the Impeller speed too much. (don't worry I'm not paying for anything) if he wants to work through this issue I'm willing, but it has to be a team effort. I did notice one monkey wrench in the idea....the extra idler will block the ability to put in one of the smaller SC to bracket bolts (the one next to the stand-off). Any ideas...or do you think it will hold up without it. I have mixed feelings about it holding up but I'm willing to test it out.

I would have mixed feelings as well when that blower is spinning at 65,000rpms, you need all you can to hold it still

Mark, 1040 belt I presume, lee already knew that belt was too long from my R&D back in January. That is when I told him that maybe with a bigger tensioner pulley it "MIGHT" work. The 1040 belt was also too big for the original set of cogs I was sent(they are bigger than what we have now)....and still have btw. So lee made me the set we all have now and hoped the smaller 960 would work with them. They did but we had to mill our brackets I wouldn't get rid of any stand offs, we are already at a disadvantage with only 3 to begin with. The force the cog belt puts down would be too much with only two left.

I think bos understood not sure you did...I mean one of the SC to Bracket socket head bolts. Thanks for the info on the 1040 I'll use that in a discussion I hope to have tomorrow.
