I have seen builds like these before and I have always wondered why go with a huge blower like this over a properly sized turbo? I would think the turbo would be the better solution?

I believe this 4.5 sandrail kit sells for around 8500. Not 100% sure on that though.

Turns out I was mis informed...this build is going to be featured on one of the power block shows. I assume horsepower tv but I don't even know if that show is still on the air. It's been years since I've watched that. Lol

A properly sized turbo can't produce the same curve that a positive displacement blower can. Sure, turbos make more power overall but I guess it's just how you plan to use it.

Maybe a dumb question and possibly one that has been covered before, but is there suck a thing as a LS1 Whipple complete blower kit for our cars? It seems like most of the Whipple builds I've seen require a lot of modification and fabrication. Just curious if there was a simple bolt on and go kit out there.

Good article! It's still to bad they had issues with the dyno since it would have been nice to have seen a dyno graph starting down lower in the 2k rpm range. I'm actually also surprised they used regular 5/16 dia. .080" wall PR's, and not larger diameter/thicker walled PR's.
I've then got to wonder how well that Crane cam 228/244 115lsa (+3.5~+4) would perform with a smaller 2.9L Whipple on a regular production LS3..?
