That sounds great! Are you running any cats or have you deleted them?

I couldnt agree more! The turbo itself reduces a lot of noise compared to an all motor open header configuration.

It all depends on what you think a "good sound" is.

I remove the y pipe, and run open 5" at the track. That sounds good too.
Do you think your 4" probably would have worked better if you had a better muffler than the race bullet you had on there? I'm guessing so. Maybe a long 24" dynomax to keep sound down and resonating to a minimum? This way you wouldn't need to drive around on the street with the added weight of the extra 3" pipe all the way back, and muffler?

All of my turbo cars have had cutouts/exhaust. I drive them to work and have to drive through my neighborhood at 6 AM. I'm not going to be a total douchebag like the guys that ride their bikes through the neighborhood wide open at the crack of dawn or drive around all day with the windows down and the stereo blasting so everyone can hear your **** music.

Its also SOOO much better on the highway with a full exhaust.

Agreed, 5:30am here. I'm on really good terms with my neighbors and plan to keep it that way. My car N/A was waaay too loud even with the cutout closed. I'm going full exhaust w/cutout again and hoping it'll be quieter.

Agreed.

I'll definitely be going the cutout/full exhaust route with my turbo C10 build. I drive the dang thing too much already with the silent six to give it up for needless noise!

I'm working on a boost controlled cutout. I just need to find a reasonably cheap 4" stainless butterfly. Using an internal gate from another turbo to control the arm on the shaft so that it opens at 4 PSI.

I now have experience with both setups, my muffler setup you can get the clip above and here is no muffler. My opinion is its sounds much better at idle, and cruising its actually close to the same noise in the car just a bit louder in a different way no low drone. Then when you get on it its obnoxious loud. My old dynomax muffler was like 20 inches. I think im going to look for a small bullet muffler to try to get a nice in between.

Im gonna try this http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...oducts_id=1057

Zapp, your video shows as private.

Really, $133 for a 5 inch long "muffler" that's 5 inch diameter. Wonder how effective that's gonna be.

got it for 110 shipped off a different site, my dynomax is like 70 bucks if i remember right but its not stainless. You may be surprised how well a small bullet muffler can get rid of some of the rasp. My father runs them in his race cars sounds good. So we will see I will update later this week.

Video should be public now.. I may try to get a cruising video on a camcorder today just to give everyone a idea how loud it actually is.

here's a decent sound clip of what mine sounds like open downpipe at various throttle positions

i had one of these mufflers on it for about 4 days but it was too quite for my taste so i took it off, although i did enjoy hearing more turbo noises with a muffler. i still have it if anyone wants it
