I agree totally. This is not a diesel truck and you are not going to want to be in boost at 1500 rpms or you gas mileage will totally suck as you will be in boost at even the slightest hill. A s47x with a 96mm turbine and a t6 housing would be fine on a 6.0 motor. Heck with the s480 on my 5.3 I see boost well below 4000 rpms at part throttle.

The manual says it's rated at like 9800 lbs, it's an HD not a standard 1500 or it wouldn't have the 6.0, bigger brakes and 2500 frame, I'm not concerned with the frame It has been great and shows no signs of fatigue. Just need/want more pulling power.

I've often wondered about adding a turbo for towing. I also wonder if a 408 cube N/A motor would do a better job than a stock 6.0 or 5.3 turbo.

I wasn't aware you had the 6.0. I was under the impression you likely had a 4.8 or MAYBE a 5.3 because of the normal towing complaints those 2 engines have, hence why I recommended a slightly smaller turbo. I personally wouldn't go any smaller than a S472 on a 6.0 for towing.

75:83 or larger 80/96 t4 set up.
But with the stock other parts the 75 is a good match.

6.2L 80/83 pulled a 8k+ trailer and stayed in vacuum just fine.

I just purchased a Buick GN and a 78' Monte Carlo, both cars were out of state and I pulled them home with my reg cab truck with 3:42 gears, 6.0l LQ9 and a GT45 turbo. The truck pulled awesome, could not be happier with the way it pulled. It would run around 1 psi on the flats at 70mph and just under 2,000 rpm. On the larger hills it would go to around 4 psi and not kick out of overdrive. Both trips it got 11mpg on e85.
