Centrifugal superchargers?

Centrifugal superchargers? what does it mean? wsa talking with some buddies a few weeks ago and they knew nothing about LS1s. They asked who made supercharger kits for them and I started rattling off a few names and at one point one of the guys said, "ugh, centrifugal, POS 
". he was a turbo DSM guy but he knows his ****. didnt ask him cuz I didnt want to sound stupid 
so Im asking here. also, who are the best s/c manufacturers for the LS1?

My .02...
Centrifugal is great for simplicity and aweseom top end power or ease in drivability (easier to keep control of the car because power is pretty linear) BUT it wont make near the same power throughout the RPM range than a good turbo setup can. Problem with turbos are they are generally more expensive and there are more parts to either buy or fabricate.
Keep en eye out for the #s the STS turbo is making here in the next couple weeks. I htink this rear mount idea is great.
OR the ATI kit is producing good #s.
I had a Vortech S-Trim on my Mustang back in the day and never had one problem with it.... Ohh other than melting pistons due to heat. (this was before intercooling was introduced to blowers).
