Default Centrifugal superchargers?

what does it mean? wsa talking with some buddies a few weeks ago and they knew nothing about LS1s. They asked who made supercharger kits for them and I started rattling off a few names and at one point one of the guys said, "ugh, centrifugal, POS ". he was a turbo DSM guy but he knows his ****. didnt ask him cuz I didnt want to sound stupid so Im asking here. also, who are the best s/c manufacturers for the LS1?

My .02...

Centrifugal is great for simplicity and aweseom top end power or ease in drivability (easier to keep control of the car because power is pretty linear) BUT it wont make near the same power throughout the RPM range than a good turbo setup can. Problem with turbos are they are generally more expensive and there are more parts to either buy or fabricate.

Keep en eye out for the #s the STS turbo is making here in the next couple weeks. I htink this rear mount idea is great.

OR the ATI kit is producing good #s.

I had a Vortech S-Trim on my Mustang back in the day and never had one problem with it.... Ohh other than melting pistons due to heat. (this was before intercooling was introduced to blowers).

so you are saying that if you had an intercooler on your s-trim, you wouldnt have melted a piston?? Are you kidding me?? Ever think about maybe you were LEAN or DETONATING? Dont blame the blower, blame the tuner..

hotter intake temps can cause detonation. Intercoolers increase power by cooling the charge, and at the same time they make the system less prone to detonating.

Geez, don't get your panties in a bunch. I didn't blame anything or anyone but myself for being a noob at the time. I know now EXACTLY why my motors went back then. I just can't say I never had a problem when blown, I just stated the problem I had. Never said it was a problem with the blower. That setup lasted a long time through some abuse. But it was amusing to see Vortech claim intercooling didn't work for blowers... Till ATI started throwing up awesome #s then look who cam eout with an "aftercooler" LOL
