I thought the ideal place is about 2ft down after turbo (downpipe)?

you should ALWAYS put the wideband sensor AFTER the turbo. The backpressure before the turbo will screw with the sensor readings. The NTK sensors are less effected by pressure than the Bosch sensors, but both are effected. If memory serves, the pressure will shift the readings to the rich side.

12 to 18 inches past the turbo is what most recommend to avoid overheating the sensor.

If the sensor if after the Y you would get the most accurate reading because you would be reading both sides. But then they say you need to keep the sensor hot so it should be near the end of the header which gets you a reading from only one side. So what do you do?

I was going to put my sensor after the Y but after discussing with Peter at tech edge I decided reading one side was adequate. If your wideband is used for a closed-loop WOT system you'd want to read both banks and at the optimum point as Matt prescribed.

My car uses the supplied Incon otr Y so I used one of the rear bungs.

I have mine in the driver side downpipe in one of the bungs that would be post cat (if I had cats) on the Incon kit. Would have put in the passenger side bung since its going to be leaner (stock fuel rails), but the wire harness for the FJO is too short.

You can run a wideband between the turbo and header but it would have to pressure compensated with an addition of pressure transducer and appropiate electronics, although its a little hot. The new bosch setups - at least the techedge setup was supposed to support this. I would prefer to have a wideband on each bank, plus egt per cylinder. With prices coming down it won't be long, know just need a pcm that would take the inputs and do cylinder to cylinder adjusting.

Supercharged example, but I have my FAST w/b in one of my front o2 sensor bungs in my headers. They would have prefered that I put it a little farther back I think.
