Default Who has bent a stock crank??

So I bent a crank in the 1050ish hp range and well hate to say it but just bent another. Not tune related as I logged each run so guessing this level is where they start to get Pissed off and want out. Just curious what power others made when theirs bent.

I think there is a big thread about this already. Almost the same title as this post i believe?
Sorry to hear about your issues. My setup is very near yours and this is a topic that has scared me for a while. Should i try and run my 370 or should i be safe and get a aftermarket crank? If so, which one for my 370?

I've seen the threads but it's should last or probably will last to 1000whp. Wanted some real experiences.

If your really going to shoot for 1000hp or more don't waste your time with a stock crank. I bent the last one and knew to just go forged but wanted to make the YB nats so didn't have time. For the 800-1300 it costs for a forged one just do it. Anything you get will be better than stock. but if you can afford it Dragonslayer would be a nice one to use.

I have a 370 solid roller, TFS 235's, o-ringed, 1/2" studs, and a S480 ET-R HO billet wheel turbo. I don't see 1,000 rwhp being a problem.
I think i will take your advice and go aftermarket. Why chance trashing this motor and or turbo? This isn't a JY 5.3.

Same here dynos are useless in my opinion unless your tuning. So basically the same range where I am 8.8@152.95 3568lbs. For some reason I thought I could get more but now I know

Or in my case a motor and a turbo #6 to be exact! No more stock **** for me I've found its limits.

What do the graphs look like on these cars whose cranks are bending? More specifically, where is peak power coming in at and how high are you spinning them?

I believe bending stock cranks has more to do with horsepower delivery (how early does it pour on) and RPM (how far are you spinning it) than it does peak horsepower numbers.

Also, what hardware is being used on the caps for those who are bending stock cranks.

So im guessing it takes more power in a manual car to bend then a auto? Seeing as there is more crank HP needed to make the same numbers in an auto car? I am making 1000whp range in my c5z06 turbo and hope to have it last for a while. Also its not seeing that power but when im on race gas so like 5% of the time.

Sorry to hear that Doug. I was worrying about this too. I have the rods and pistons now and am on the wire about a crank. I think for the extra initial cost just do it and be sure. It will cost a lot more if it takes out the engine and turbo trying to be cheap.

I believe that the torque or rather load is what bends them. I was spinning mine to about 7200 rpm out the back door. I believe that the real abuse is in the launch and getting the power in as fast as possible. The heavier the car and taller the gear, the worse it it.

Like I said above, IMO it depends on how much torque you get to the ground vs the weight of the car. Autos tend to do this far more effectively. Specially in a turbo application.

About a 10 psi oil pressure drop at idle. It tears up the inner main bearings.

I agree and in my case 3.08s 3567lbs and this thing launches pretty hard I think is really hammering the parts. As for rpm I hardly spin it. 6500-6700 max I need to either move on. Or buy a forged crank pull weight and change the gear
