Default Who's had overheating issues switching to turbo?

Im having issues with my car running hotter than it should. Sitting at idle my temp creeps up to about 220 with the hood open and if I close it get up to 235. If I rev the car up it actually cools down a bit. Im just wondering who has had overheating issues switching to turbo. Here the specs on my car to give you an idea.

408 LQ4 @ 9.0:1
Twin 70mm Turbonetics w/ wrapped turbo, up and down pipes
160 degree thermostat
Griffin 24x15.5x3 core radiator
Zirgo 3200 (I dont know if I believe this) CFM Puller fan with shroud.
Fan is on switch at the moment
Brand new stock water pump
Kurt Urban steam vent kit
No A/C

The block, heads and head gaskets are not an issue as these things have all been checked. The car cools down while driving so I am lead to believe its a fan issue. The only thing that confuses me is that, I have a shrouded puller fan and my tuner has said he has seen cars with no shrouds or just pusher fans not get this hot. He said those cars rarely got over 200. Im at dead end bc I cant figure this out.

Do you have a coolant expansion tank or just an overflow?

I added an expansion tank or pressurised settling tank to my system and it really helped. I can sit and idle forever now and it will not go over 210 where as before it would keep climbing and climbing and would go over 240 before I shut it down. Definitely helped me.

You have a fan issue. Put two Spal or Derale pushers on it.

I put mine on the firewall, but I have a foxbody. Not sure pics would help but I can get some if you want. I ran a t in the bottom with the heater hose output going through the t and my steam port going to the tanks as well then one line going out from under the cap to the overflow

Definitely sounds like a fan issue, I had the same problem actually. Finally switched from two 10in ebay pushers to a single 16in puller. BOOM, temps were fine. I still have a problem with getting too hot on long pulls so ill be upgrading to a SPAL 16in fan and a smaller pusher. Also twin turbo, turbo blankets, 160 stat, and wrapped down pipes.

Sarg i didnt know you had a fox, I dont need pics then. Thanks for the info on the routing for the lines though!

s25hanh what 16" fan do you have now. I have a Zirgo and some people swear by them but I already had one melt on me. Its rated at 3200 cfm but people claim thats a false number. Has anyone else dealt with zirgo?

OP I'm having the same problem as you. I have the same rad with two 10in Zirgo fans. IMO these fans are junk. Definitely Chinese ****. I'll be switching to two 12in Derale pushers here soon...

Timing and fuel make a difference as well. I only ran one fan no shroud and never had a problem.

ddnspider do you have any pics? I was thinking of dropping my lower radiator support a couple inches and trying to fit in my stock fan and radiator.
