Well I put a boost controller on and having trouble building boost. I either have a boost leak or controller isn't working. After I get that figured out I'm going to install my 2 step and try to build some boost off the line !

Is it new or used? I'd look for boost leaks, don't you have a boost gauge in the car? If so than you should have seen a boost leak before you installed the controller

Yes I have had a boost controller on the intire time. I never had leaks before I put controller on. It always got up to 6 pretty quick and stayed right on 6. After I put controller on I lost about half a pound of boost and than tried raising it and could never get boost to come up. Now it won't hit 5lbs even with the controller on there. Not sure if the controller is leaking somehow or just a coincidence I have a boost leak a short time after installing boost controller... The boost controller is new and I can't figure out why it didn't work! I parked car at parents house last week and haven't touched it. Tomorrow I plan on doing a few things to figure out what's going on!

What controller, how is it routed, and does it have an overboost setting that is perhaps set to 5lbs?

Hmmmm sounds like you lost boost slowly and now can't get it to raise. .? I'd say it's a boost leak since your having trouble building boost and not necessarily having trouble controlling it. I'm not saying it couldn't be the controller tho...

Take the controller off and see if it hits the correct psi of the spring... if not than you have boost leak.. if it boost correctly than your controller is bad

It's a hallman manual boost controller... I don't believe it has an overboost setting.

Yep that's what I'm about to do. Hoping the controller is the problem!

Cool let us know what it ends up being.. most of the time people don't give feedback after they targeted the issue. Good luck

Yea... Well I found the problem. Anybody have this happen? Not sure if I blew the gaskets out and than the bolts backed out or the bolts backed out causing the gasket to blow out... I didn't have a boost leak, but I had a HUGE exhaust leak lol.

^^That's not good. I stopped using gaskets and only use the copper spray.

Now there's why you slowly lost boost, if it were the controller you would have lost it all at once..

You were saying you hoped for it to be the controller but this is cheaper fix.

I would use some copper spray on the flange (both surfaces) an stick the gasket between it still. And then use some ARP thread lock on the bolts. Its meant to withstand high temps Vs locktite. .. I have almost stripped out bolts trying to remove them a day after using the ARP ... it's that good
.. it's like $8 for a big tube off summit. . About 10x bigger tube than the locktite tube so it's well worth the $ ..... its white paste not blue or red

I had mine do that to me once. The only time I ever had problems was when I had a gasket in there.... Only use orange RTV now (no gasket) and haven't had it leak since.

Yeah if both pieces come together straight with no resistance(freely) than there's nothing wrong with no gasket.. especially if your having problems blowing the gasket..just spray the **** out if it and get that ARP stud sealant and blue locktite. 'I use it on fuel fitting and everything, but it's made for fuel fittings...non hardening (but it locks your threads)
I'd use blue locktite on the bolt ends and the thread sealant down the center of the bolt where it will going though where the gasket would be. ..I tend to do stuff a little over kill but better than ******* with it twice!

Well put new bolts, lock washers, loctite and copper spray on the gaskets. How long do you guys usually let loctite and the copper spray set before running it?

Can someone explain how the 2-step helps to build boost off the line?
