Yes, my son is a much better tuner than I am. I am sure we will tune together but I will let him lead. Doug has spent a lot of time with my son and he's really become good at tuning, thanks to Doug! ;-)

When we get it dialed close I want to have Hoosier Street Cars put it on their dyno to get some numbers just for kicks.

Set the cam motion low lash solid roller to zero lash cold, she fired right up. We are going to get the tune closer then head to the Dyno at Hoosier street cars in Lafayette

man, you guys are really making it difficult to decide on a path. I have a lq9 and am trying to decide on a cam choice. The turbo route just isn't in the cards right now, but I don't want to go another year without having my car. Do you have any experience with the low lash solid roller cam from Cam motion? And would you suggest it for my lq9 build? Sorry to threadjack, but I am trying to get as much insight as possible. Thanks in advance, also I hope to see you at 41 this year.

Yea, I have a ton of experience with the low lash solid roller from cam motion. I can definitely provide some guidance. If you can't handle the turbo build now you can make modifications with the future boost build in mind. I was n/a with a shot of nitrous and had Kip spec out the very first low lash solid roller as such. I wish I would have had my original cam specd for the boost build b/c it would have saved me from swapping less than a year later. The low lash solid roller is an absolutely incredible set up with a lot of benefit over a hydraulic but you must be prepared to shell out some coin for the adjustable rocker set up.

The v-band compressor outlet was bought with the turbo, it's a borg warner piece I believe. Hit up LJMS Solutions for any needs you have, John won't steer you wrong.

You sir are the low lash solid roller king. I've been envious of all your builds.

This looks very similar to my build plans. Nice fab work.

Where did you buy your piping, flanges, etc?

Thanks!

I have learned that a boost build is entirely on another level than a nitrous build. Take your time and research, research, research. Get to know others who have done a build like this before and become their best friend. lol My son built his last summer and we learned quite a bit that helped us streamline this build. Be prepared to take your time, commit all the way to the end of the project and be rest assured that you will spend more than your original budget. lol

I have only driven mine a couple miles to the gas station to fill up with E85 then back to the shop so I don't have many miles on it yet. We want to tune it, work out any bugs and then tear it back down so I can tweak some wires/vacuum lines/etc and paint everything. Oil pressure gauge is pegged so I think we broke it installing the intake for like the tenth time trying to get my fuels lines to clear the valve covers and fire wall. Argh ;-/ I am also having problems getting this thing to idle so we reran the lash on the rockers and set them to .008 hot instead of .000 cold. I ended up loosening them up about .003-.004. We have tried everything with the injectors and even swapped in some 105 lb Deatschwerks injectors and then tried my sons 88 lb injectors. Still struggling but will keep you guys posted on progress. I want to get this thing down to hoosier street cars soon for a dyno run. I may limit the boost since I am limited in fueling by the 105 injectors. I really need to break down and buy a set of ID1300 but being laid off is taking its toll financially so I am done buying parts for now.

We dialed in the AFR's and I ran it half throttle to 4k RPM. WOW! This is going to be cool. Only hit 3 lbs of boost on just the spring (boost controller isn't hooked up yet) and absolutely NO TRACTION.

Eric at Midwest chassis hooked me up with a front bumper support and a custom facia support. I sent him a couple pics and he whipped out a support that worked perfectly with my own fabricated hood latch support. Eric is the man!

I tried just dumping the downpipe under the car. No way, the drone was going to drive me nuts so I modified the downpipe and extended it out the bumper
