I prefer my flesh-lights free of whirling blades...

Just a jab at the vagueness of the title. It is a turbo... and it could be "for a 5.3". Just needs a really big waste gate.

Another factor to think about is when you want your boost to come in. I see a lot of huge turbos that don't boost up until 4k. If I was to build a stocker with a turbo to drive on the streets, I'd prefer my boost come on around 22-2400 range and full boost around 3400 and shift her around 53-5500. So I'd want a smaller turbo or turbo's. Now a drag car with a 4.5k stall, I may then want my boost to come on around 3.5k and be up to full boost around 4.8k or so and shift around 7k depending on cam and ecm.

On a street driven car or truck I prefer smaller faster spooling turbo's over the big slugs. Oh, they make tons of power, but on a stock cam you would have very little usable RPM's while in boost. I used an On3 76 on a 5.3 in a 99 4x4 z71 and it doesn't start boosting until around 31 to 33 hundred rmps. The owner and I both wish we would have used a smaller turbo or A/R to bring the boost online in the mid 2k rpm range. It's not a track truck so it doesn't need the high rpm boost. We are considering swapping the A/R to a smaller A/R or swapping to a smaller turbo.

Something to think about.

That's exactly what i want...its a street truck so i want the boost to come in as quickly as possible...like a just over 2000rpms...thats why i was thinking about going with a bw s366 or something like that

Not to be a douche, but I would call your friends fab skills into question then.................stainless is actually easier to weld than MS. Something else behind the MS decision? Cost?

I am just curious why more people don't recommend or seem to use the Garrett GT4094R for an application like this. Is it the cost?

Aside from price, would anyone care to comment on the appropriateness of this turbo for this application?
