I think I am going to give it a try with that cam, thanks for all the input guys!! The tranny is going this weekend for the rebuild, gonna order the converter this weekend, Prolly a yank 3400 I have to get my crossmember and a couple little parts but I will be happy the majority of the build is paid for and done. should get better from there. I have decided to use my fuel cell with the aeromotive a1000 pump that I have already, that should be sufficient to feed it. gonna have to trade my injectors from 60lb. to 80lb. most likely?

Have you spoken with any cam specialist, i.e Martin Smallwood, or Lil Jon? I understand saving some cash but if you can spare it, it would be worthwhile to at least consider it. I'm sure they could explain exactly why said cam is better or worse than another.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, if you change the duration then you change the amount of overlap. I think that's what Martin said in his thread about "why LSA doesn't matter".

When I had martin spec out a cam for me, it had 9 degrees of overlap (was also for a 402 and a d1 setup), im curious if 3 extra will make a big difference?

If thats the case, then how do they offer cams with the same duration, on a different LSA? Now im lost, but curious also. Can you have 2 cams with exact same duration, but different overlap?

bob from brute speed said the cam should work fine, I was going to buy one of his blower cam setups but he said it wasn't needed.

Yes, you can have two different cams with same dur and diff LSA. This is where the overlap is figured from.

Correct. Basically add the int/exh duration average it out and subtract that by double the LSA= the overlap.

I'm sure the cam will work, that's not a problem. But if you can make your power goal while running lower boost, then that's less stress on everything. Good luck on the build though, and post results when your done.

Wow, that was a good & educational read. I now have a better understanding of LSA ( which was always a bit mystical).

Thanks again guys, I will keep you posted on my build, should be coming together quickly in the next few weeks, brought the trans to the builder today, $1600 for a full build 32 element intermediate sprag billet clutch hub and input, he rates it to about 1000hp. Great guy and fast. have it back next week

quick update, got the trans back and ordered a ton of parts. car goes in our shop tomorrow for assembly!! I am very excited, I had what I thought was a fuel cell that came with the car that I was going to sell but I realized the other day it was a cell from nasty performance that goes in place of the factory tank so I called them and splurged a little on a setup that will support 1100whp that works with the tank I had. I ordered a full exhaust from texas speed 17/8 headers-catted y-pipe- magnaflow catback, got a madman dipstick for the trans, ordered 80lb. injectors, bmr crossmember, balancer, fleplate, poly motor mounts, a/f, trans temp, fuel pressure gauge, pillar pods from brute speed(thanks Bob)and I ordered a devils own meth kit. All I should need to deal with is tranny cooler lines, driveshaft cut, and auto shifter/center console. pics will follow as we move along over the next few weeks

Nice to see your getting it finished up. Got mine tuned and made some shakedown passes with it @ the local track. Probably gonna run an alky control 100% kit on it with a little more boost. Its already slow to me.

Yes the tuner suggested going from the devils own to the alky control with twin nozzles and 100% so that is the route I am going, it sucks I already had the devils own but whatever.
As far as pics, I dont have the car right now(at tuners 4.5 hours away) but when I get it back there will be some for you guys
What kind of power did your car make?

560/503 on a dynojet in 90 deg heat on 93 octane only with 10-11lbs boost. Got it to run 10.95 @127 with a 1.71 60'. The car is full weight with iron block, 80e, and procharger kit. Im guessing it weighs 3900# by itself but not sure.
