Well, I have a circle d converter on the way, it's a 2800 stall , triple disc, actually speced for my car, going all the way this time.
Its actually what I wanted from, the begining, funds didn't allow at the time, now it will cost me twice, I'm pretty sure there is a lesson in there somewhere......
I've only ever heard good things about the company and their converters.
The people I've talked to have been great, can't wait to get the car back together and try out this converter!

I don't know what to say about the revmax converter, I had high hopes for it, I didn't buy it new, guess it wrong for the caddy.

That should be much better. I think you'll like the driving characteristics better too. That 3600 was probably pretty annoying on the street. Turbos like a little bit of load.

Yea, just normal acceloration was 2800/3200 all the time...... I was already over that......
The guys at circle said their converter would be much tighter, so that along with the lower stall speed, should be a much better cruiser.
I also think I'll need to expedite a rear end build so I can get a lower gear and get two black stripes instead of one. Thinking 35 spline 9inch

Does anyone make a 9" housing for the Caddy?

I've actually seen them on ebay, custom built 9inch, but I figure since I wanna bag it, and run a 315 series tire, might as well build my own. I need to get the rear wheels and tires to get mocking up, I'd like to get a used holdi,g and save a little moola, cause the rest will be a little spendy

As big as your car is a stock housing from a truck would probably work

Yea you should see the rear brakes on this thing, their somewhere in Between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton drums!
I was thinking about a Dana 60, but it think a 9" will have a lower pinion and be better suited for the floor of the car. I still think I will need to raise the driveshaft tunnel to get it any (the car) lower, with the car loaded down with people there is a spot that will make contact, hence the air shocks lol

The whatever-96 B-body commercial chassis came with the 14 bolt rear. Lot's of parts available for it. Cheap too...

car-parts.com

Probably be close to what you need for width. Just add your brackets.

I believe the highest ratio for a Dana 60 is a 3.5x...

Just look up 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood and choose the 14 bolt option. I think they all came with like a 2.93 gear and open diff, but there are a lot of parts available for these. They have 9.5" ring gears.

Found some more info:

"Rare coil spring 5 lug GM 14 Bolt 9.5" rear axle.

This is the narrowest 14 bolt 9.5 that GM made.

33 spline c-clip axles. Semi-floating. 5 x 5" bolt pattern.

Accepts all gears and posi/locker carriers for the GM 14 Bolt 9.5 and there are many options now.

61.75" from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. Measures 50.25" inside the brake backing plates at the narrowest part.

Has 11.16 x 2.75" ("truck")brakes."

Googling around it looks like your current rear is 63" track width.

Andrew

I like matching up finds like that. There's usually something out there that'll work--just takes some research and trials. Nice that it's also a Caddy part. Most rods end up with a F*rd rear end.

the problem is there's no guarantees that you got it all out. The trans was taken apart and the only thing I really hurt was the first gear clutches from when it wasn't wanting to move and I put it to the floor to get out of the middle of the road. I guess the problem is the particles are so small and embedded in the friction material. It's just getting new clutches and apply bands, rather be safe than sorry. I'm hopeful to have it back together by the end of the month we'll see
