Default 4' down pipe ?

ok i have a 370 ci, ported 317 heads ls6 intake, pt88 turbo. last year l make 820 wheel on 14 lb boost. well this year i got the new holley high rise and nw 105 throttle body. well i had a 3' down pipe last year car ran great. my question is because of intake and throttle body change should i run a 4" down pipe to my inter cooler, would i benfit from doing this or just a waist. thanks

Running your downpipe into your intercooler doesn't sound like a good idea

Your down pipe is the exhaust leaving the turbo. I believe your talking about your cold side pipe if it's going to the intercooler. Not sure how big the gains would be at that power lever going to 4" over 3" as 3" has made a lot more power. If your are talking about the exhaust then For sure go to 4"

sorry yea i said that wrong. i am new to the turbo world. my down pipe {exhaust} is 4' all the way back . i am talking about my cold side after my inter cooler. i was just wondering i ran 3 last year and like i said 820 wheel through a 400 trans unlocked converter and 9" rear end on 28 tall tires. my new intake and throttle body are just a lot bigger and didnt know if it would help going from a 3" to a 4". or it could slow the velocity down and make less power also..i know know bigger not always better. i also plan on running a lot more boost also this year.

i do run e85. we ran out of fuel at 14 lb . thats why we stopped. first time in the car off foot brake i went mid 9 at 148. i was only on 12 lbs at the track like i said it started to go lean at 14 so i backed it off. my 60' was 1.59. i didnt use the trans brake. i just got the car and wanted to enjoy it a bit before i start braking things, lol. i got 2- 450 walbro pumps and id2000 injectors now so fuel should be good. there huys making 1000 wheel with that turbo.

my 400 eats up a lot of power and the unlocked converter also. the 9'. it will never be dyno queen, but its runs pretty good. my best time is 9.3, i am shooting for 8 next year. its a street car full interior, heat its def fun seeing the look on guys face when you pull them on there bikes, that never gets old.

Your throttle body would easily support 2000hp, and then some....it's kind of on the large side for sub 1k. Bigger here is definitely not better.

As for pipework, 3" is probably still fine, but you could move to 3.5" if there are a few bends. 4" would be on the large side though

But with such a massive TB...presumably it requires a larger hose than even 4" ?

ok, well i can take that nw 105 off and do a 92 mm throttle body with a 3.5 hose. that sound like a better plan. i will eventually do a dart block so i bought the throttle body so i wouldnt have to buy another. i will just buy a smaller one and do 3.5 pipe then or do you recommend 4 with that throttle body. i know the air is going to go with forced induction , like i said im new to this trying to learn , theres alot . thanks for the time in your guys post to help me out. there are some bends in the pipe routing to the intake.

92mm TB is likely to want a 4" hose anyway.

So really up to you, and what is easiest. But 3.5" is more than enough for the power.

You can silicone up/down, or I used 3.5" OD tube and welded a short piece of thickwall 4" OD tube onto the 3.5" for the silicone coupler to secure to.
Means there's a good strong pipe for the 4" silicone to clamp down onto without fear of crushing it.
