Default more progress

Got to work a little more on the car tonight. Ended up getting the hotside all tacked up. Got the merge done as well, not my best piece ever but should get the job done i would think. Also got my intercooler cut in. Just had to modify the hood latch support a little. Good thing they way over build things back in the day, i notched it and trimmed a little out and the big ole ic dropped right in and sits there just like it was born there!

progress is good, nice to see you fabbing up the manifolds and connecting piping, low boost should be fun, do you have a cam with a wide LSA? what have you decided for controlling your boost, timing retard and fuel enrichment? HP Tuner, Holley, Mega Squirt? she will make more power than your expecting i'm sure!! Looks like your making progress!!

I'm running the 04 LS6 cam right now, scored it for pennies! When I get the system up and running, I'll go with a more deciated turbo cam down the road.

I'm going to be use the built in boost controller of the Holley Hp Efi computer I'm running. It's pretty rad. I'm not entirely sure on the tuning part of this build, but I've got a buddy with the same setup 2 hours away that is going to help me with mine.

Thanks for the follow!!! I'm pretty pumped.

I'm doing a 67 and wondering about the fitment of the t56. I'm doing a magnum and hoping I don't have to cut a lot of the tunnel.

Just spend the little bit of money up front and get exactly what you want the first time.
You're going to have to cut into something at some point if you're going to turbo it. Don't settle. You'll be happier in the long run.

I agree. I had a TKO 600, it was great, but I always wished I had gone with the T56 Magnum instead

A TKO was designed many moons before the T56 Magnum and doesn't shift anywhere near as smoothly as one, won't shift at high RPM like a Magnum (I shift at 7800rpm at times), and if you opt for the close ratio 5th in the TKO it doesn't have enuf overdrive.... If you get the version with the tall overdrive the transition from 4th to 5th the RPMs fall off a cliff. Get the Magnum.... Mine is holding around 1400hp 100% stock with a McLeod 1200hp version RXT.

The best part is how nicely it shifts. Truly modernizes the car. After 2-3k miles it is broken in. The 2.66 version is what I run in all my setups and friends cars.

I run the Holley EFI also. That really is an awesome and relatively easy to use system. It also just came out with Flexfuel which paying $2 for 106 octane is killer.

I build my own crossmember because at the time I was crunched for time! Basically took a turbo 400 member and cut the center out, moved it back a couple inches, and gusseted the corners.

I had to cut my trans tunnel to fit, the t56 shifter moves 4" backwards in the rear most position. (I've heard you can move the shifter to the middle mounting spot to avoid having to cut a hole, but I like having the shifter closer to me in the seat.

I would love a magnum, but it was just out of my price range. I will either have to upgrade my T56 in the future, or pony up for a magnum, but I'll wait until I scatter my stocker first, I picked it up for $1200 for everything and am in the proces of bolting a 850hp capable Monster clutch in front of it, we will see how bad she chatters, )

I've got a question about the holley setup tho, what kind of extras do I need to get to control boost? I've read there are boost solenoids, aux harnesses, etc, can anyone share some .02? I've got one 44mm Tial Sport WG and then a Tial 50mm BOV. Thanks!

If you do decide to go with the T56 swap, hit me up, I'll save you hours of research on the parts you want/need!

You need to decide if you want to use boost pressure or on board air, or co2 for boost control.
Then you simply need 1 or 2 solenoids depending on how you want to control it.

Default easy

I really want to do whatever is easiest and most budget friendly. This is a daily driver, not a track car. I'm really not planning on messing with the boost on the regular. I want to set it at a good streetable setting and leave it be. The car is hardly going to see the track, and instead of tweeking with the boost settings, I would probably be better off practicing getting consistant on the tree, haha. Anyways, thanks for any help getting rolling with this.

Most budget friendly is to load the wastegates with Springs and let them do the work. Skip all the solenoid stuff alltogether.
Start with somthing small, like 7psi spring. Then a manual boost control **** if you decide you want more.

The manual route does not allow you to ramp in boost at all. It gives you the spring controlled boost setting and that's it. (Unless you turn it up with a manual controller)

So at this point I have been directed to get 1 boost solenoid and the aux harness and go from there. I figure for $175 I can afford to follow some of the instruction I've been pointed at. Getting it setup correctly will be another story which I will be grateful for the help.

I am just finishing up wiring a holley efi HP to my car. Here is a crappy drawing (sorry for that) but this might help a little. The input/outputs Connector is a Metri-pack 150 8 pin female metri-pack that's on the wiring(HP) so you need a male metri-pack series 150 w/ 8 pin

when looking at female metri-pack that's on the Holley HP the clip is on the top. for diagram

Not really a definition. It's only the inputs/outputs. Which you need to connect to your Holley(MAC) boost solenoid and what ever else you need/want to control with the holley HP.

I am using 2 (mac) holley boost solenoids and are connected to b3 and b10. And to turn on my 4303 magnafuel pump any time I want, I hooked that up to b12.

each output/input has it's own property's you have to figure out which is which this will help you so you don't have to go through the Holley wiring diagram and follow wires.
