Looks like non-floating rods? If so they put up a good fight for a long long time!

That's what I was thinking. These rods are twigs compared to the gen 4 floaters.

Maybe the timing chain broke and busted a piston, all downhill from there.

Too bad it didn't have the HD rods in it The rest looks mint! I did the same thing years ago with an early rod lq4 in my truck. 10.50's at 4850 lbs was too much for that early rod lol.

Street car? Miles on engine? Guestimated # of passes? Were most @ or close to this many#'s? Meth? Rings filed, or untouched shortblock?

Full weight street car, 24,000 miles, about 300 passes, yes meth is used, completed untouched short block including the rings.

What kind of RPM did you turn? Wondering how much longer the GEN3 stuff would last if people ran something similar to the LS9 cam with a loose converter. That way your not making squat for power under 5k. I blew mine at 3500 on the 2-step at 24+lbs.

had the shift points set at 6900. converter wasn't too loose. i would usually foot brake to 2200 on the launch. best 60' was a 1.28 but usually low 1.3s. im figuring it was around 24 psi coming from a Novi 2200 (8"/3" pulley combo).
