Default Gear selection for procharger

Hey guys,
I'm looking for advice on which direction I should go with rear gears for my car. When I had originally ordered my S60, I had planned on being NA with a 28 inch tall tire. So I ordered it with 4.10's.This winter I had found a good deal on a D1SC with a FMIC so I decided to go that route instead.(see sig for mods)Now I'm wondering if it'll be to much gear for the setup even with my 28's? I was thinking of switching to 3.54's. But wanted some input from you guys if I should bother or not.

I'm no pro, but it's one of those things, it wouldn't hurt to just try your current gearing before making the jump to the 3.54s

You'd be going backwards imo

Thanks for the replies. So I did more searching and reading last night. So generally a centrifugal blower is gonna want more rpm to keep boost up vs. a turbo which likes to be loaded more? Provided I can get the car too hook, the steeper gears would be the way to go?

You might want to plan on bigger fuel pump and injectors soon also, if sig is still current.

Really? I was recommended the 255 pump, hotwire kit, and 60# injectors. With my current pulley set up it should be around 7-8#'s of boost. I was directed to this set up based off that. Do you think the IDC will be maxed out?

I was in a similar situation, I order my Dana 60 with 3.54's I just recently sold that one and went with 3.73's. If I would of had 4.10s already I would of tried them with my 28s

I've read the 4.10s would be too much, but if you have them already why not try them with the 28s and see how you like especially since it seems like your going to run low boost to start.

The procharger makes almost instant boost when I had mine on 12lbs with 28" / 3:73 and the same with 26" / 3:42s.

If its a track car do the 4:10, if its street or street / track use the lower gear.

7 to 8 lbs of boost, you should be good to go. I'd keep your 4.10 gears with your 28 inch tall tires too. Bob

Thanks for everyone's responses so far. And it is mainly a street car with 3-4 trips to the track a year. It's not a DD and might see 4-500 street miles in a season.

I think I would go with the 3.54s. At least then, the car might get decent mileage cruising around and it wouldn't be completely obnoxious if you are driving down the interstate.

You're in the wrong place if you're concerned about mileage.

I'd try it with the 4.10s and see what it does. As long as you are not running out of rpms in the traps, you'll be ok..(for only 7-8 psi). If you start trapping over 130 mph, you'll probably need to gear it down some unless you're spinning it to 7k+ in the traps.

All depends on how much power it makes and how fast it goes.

Centrifugal blowers like rpms so... Usually gear is good.. IF you can hook it and IF you can make it thru the traps at the top of your power band.

Yeah I'm gonna leave the gears alone for now and see what it does. I think I'm over thinking it right now and getting ahead of myself before I get some passes in with this setup.
