Default First turbo car initial startup?

I got the engine and transmission in last night. I should be ready to start it by the end of the week. I'm just waiting on the oil feed block to come in and I have a few things to finish up. I've changed the tune to 2bar sd and made a lot of other changes in the tune. I'm still hunting for the Siemens deka 80lb injector information to input into Hptuners. Does anyone have that info and mind sharing it with me?

Is there anything I need to do for initial start up, different than an n/a car?

Thank you!

I like to crank the motor with injector harness off to build oil pressure. Makes me feel good that the turbos have have oil immediately before it fires the first time.

Sounds good. The turbo had a small amount of oil coming out of the return. I bought new, so VSracing probably put a small amount of oil through it.

I'll prime it with the injector harness off too. Thanks!

Pull the turbo oil line off and fill the turbo with oil.

Most people think this is "overkill" but it seems like a no brainer to me. I bought one of those $15 weed\hand pump sprayers from home depot and rigged up a fitting on the end of the feed hose. I introduced about 10-15psi oil pressure through my engine/turbos this way, Made me feel better. I have sense then used it to fill transmissions on C5's and other hard to reach areas.. cheap nice tool to add to the arsenal.

Thanks for the tips. I'll pour oil through the turbo with oil before installing the feed line.

Can anyone pm me the Siemens Deka 80lb injector info for HPtuners? Or you can email me at johnmarandaminer@yahoo.com

Thank you!

Another small thing to think about. If you can, start it outside and let it warm up. When mine first fired up last week, every piece of the engine was burning off surface oils and stuff, getting the rings to start seating, etc... I had 3 garage doors open and still shoulda done it outside lol. And if things go bad you won't torch your garage.

Yup, my dad preached this to me since I was little. He had an old monza with a 400 in it, backfired through the carb and lost car and nearly garage too.

I also unplugged the injectors and cycled the car a few tea before the first start.

Thanks! I'll get a fire extinguisher ready.

Anything else to think about? I'll probably start it on Wednesday if I don't run into any problems with the fuel regulator setup.

Your over thinking the whole turbo thing. If you've started a N/A motor You've started a turbo motor. Get after it and post a start up video.

I'll start it tomorrow after I wire in the wideband. I cranked the engine without spark to prime the turbo tonight and found my return to be leaking a little. It's my fault because I had the welder put the fitting in a bad place where the 90' fitting hits the MWC k member. At least the gauges look okay! Ill post a video tomorrow.

I also used a garden sprayer to prime my motor... got a fitting that went into the lower galley plug on the drivers side on the front.

I also have some 80lbs inj data if you still need it.

Topgun, I sent you a PM about the injectors. Thank you!

I started the car tonight. It fired up on the first try. I wired my wideband gauge to the light cluster and forgot to turn them on for the first video, so I made a 2nd. I don't have the charge piping/intercooler on, but I did cut it to fit before pulling everything so it should go back on without any issues. I really wanted to see if my oil return line was going to leak and it appears to be leak free, although the oil didn't get very hot yet. I also don't have any of my vacuum lines ran so my vacuum block is acting as another intake....lol.

The downpipe is only 15" long or so because it hits my MWC k-member. Ill drive it to the exhaust shop on friday for a quote to run it up to my catback.

I'm very happy it started up and seemed to idle okay!!
