Default Eaton M62

Hello I am new to posting on forums, I own a 2002 SS Camaro Convertible...no mods yet as I am deployed. I recently came across the Eaton m62 a clutchable supercharger...yes I am thinking Mad Max!

Has anyone used a clutchable supercharger before? Especially on a LS equipped vehicle, any info would be much appreciated. (and yes I know its just movie magic for the mad max car)...but now with the eaton m62 it looks more realistic

Are you wanting to move the clutch to a larger blower? Because the M62 is built for sub 2.0L 4 cylinders. They aren't good for much more than 250whp.... The electric clutch M62's come off the C240 mercedes 4 cylinders.

I was just curious if this was even possible on an LS1, or if there was an existing model out there that would work on my car. Yes if you knew of one that would work I would go larger size or if anyone had modded B&M to make it work like this?

You could put a clutch on any blower. Where you would source it or find one that mates up to an existing blower is a different story. At the least I would recommend an M122 blower for an LS application. A TVS or whipple would be even better. My little M112 is pretty close to it's limits on a fairly stock motor.

But to answer your question, the clutch is very doable. You just have to get one that will fit your blower and then determine how you want to engage it. (ie air or electric)

I don't really think there is much advantage to having a clutch like that. Most of the PD style blowers take very little power to turn when they are not making boost. Magnacharger advertises like 1/3 of hp to spin when in bypass (no boost). Seems like alot of trouble for little if any gain.

The main reason is cool factor...I know it sounds childish but I really would love to set it up just like mad max.

I have heard the whipple supercharger is really efficient, I will look at the mangnacharger. Thanks for the heads up
