Trans is mint, i built it along with the engine. This is a whole new combo. So now that I've put 300 ish miles on it and first time at track with this setup, the bugs are rearing their heads....

So i called MSD tech and he said he's experienced this before and to try lowering the max shift rpm by 2000 rpm. I was like wtf!
Well,it worked,i get a wot 2-3 now in D3 or manually. I had to play with that cuz it shifted too early. I had it set at 5800 up to 6200, why would it need to be so much lower?

Why not leave it in D and let it make a pass?

Thats where I would start.

Do you have the ability to adjust "shift times" (the time the transmission takes to make a shift)? If not, the default time is probably applied and because of how quickly the car is accelerating, by the time you command the shift at a given RPM, the transmission receives the command, but it takes so much time to make the shift that it doesn't actually perform it until much later in RPM. Does that make sense?

That's the plan next time im at the track, Now that it'll shift normally. Then i can work on boost and timing to see what this thing can do.

Yes, it does. And i think your on the right track. I think this is why msd said to lower max rpm shift.
Not really the length of time but either early or late (based on tps) and shift firmness which in turn would make the shift shorter or longer because of raising or reducing line pressure. Goes full line at wot on it's own. I have a digital line press guage in my pillar and monitor it always.

Default Got new track times : )

OK, gettin this new combo sorted out better. Fixed shift tune issues and shifts correctly. Upgraded fuel system to 2 044s and on e85.
Still @ 14ish psi for now. Hope to turn it up to 18-20, high 10s are the goal before the east coast season is over, then ill upgrade the turbo over the winter. This just doesn't move enough exhaust or air volume to do what i want. I knew that going into the On3 76 because it was a starter turbo for me. So here's where im @ so far.

11.52/ 1.63/ 118.9 off T-brake

121 best mph with a 1.9 60' off footbrake.

.53 to reach my 10s goal for the season! Haha! Dunno if the 65mm hotside will let my 37xxlb car do that but ill try!
Then a new goal of high 9s

I'm guessing that tire is KILLING you.

I would go to a smaller tire for sure.

a 30" tire, 3.55 gear at 121 MPH puts you at 4800 RPM.... You won't hit 6k RPM till you hit 150MPH..... Not sure what martin set your cam to spin up to, but you'll be fine on a 26" for a while. IF you can get that 60' down, it will help a ton.

I would honestly put it on a 26" tire.

I went with a 275-60-15 MT drag radial instead. Yea,the 30 was a mistake and i sold em.
At least im back at the stroker engine/4.10 gear times i used to get. Just tryin to surpass that. Just got a 4 port WG solenoid so i can up the boost. With my 2 port,DC seems to be maxed out, can't get more than 14-15 psi most likely due to my crazy small exh turbine/housing side.

well the 28" is better than a 30" . I would still prob go to a 26" maybe on your next set. Plenty of guys around here going very fast on 26's. Try to leave on more boost if you can.

What size motor are you running? I would see about selling that on3 and moving to a better turbo. I'm sure you can find something used for cheap. That would prob be your best bang for the buck.

Runnin a 5.3, definitely goin bigger over the winter, probably a BW billet 476 or 480. Those are the best bang-4-buck turbos i think.
