Default 4 inch exhaust

Plan on running a single 4" exhaust on my turbo Nova. I'm looking for a muffler that is fairly quiet and also has NO drone. Let me know what you guys are using. The car will be driven on the street, I'd like it to not rattle my brains out. Thanks in advance.

I'm a huge fan of Magnaflow mufflers for street cars.

I'm a huge fan of cutouts. Open exhaust power, stock exhaust quiet.

i run a round case and around 24" long chinese knockoff of the magnaflow muffler. straight through design with packing and is pretty quiet for a straight through 4" and loses very little if any power. i tried my 4" cutout and made the same power.

at a couple spots but i think it is mainly my y pipe causing that. not drone just alittle rasp. very clean sound. i think they are only around 50-60 bucks so they are definitely worth a try.

I have heard of people using a muffler designed for diesel pickups on their turbo cars.

I ran a 4" magnaflow diesel muffler on mine at one point and it was super quiet and had no drone at all. 3.5 down pipe going into a 4" magnaflow cat back for a duramax I cut up and made fit.

if its front exhaust, building another entire swappable pipe on is a decent option haha, other than that i think a super quiet exhaust and remove the muffler for racing or dont bother, it will kill power and not be quiet enough not flow enough etc etc

i actually am going to make a bolt in insert on my white car 4 inch exhaust and have it knock the exhaust outlet down to like 1 inch just to really quiet it down and see how that works out, obviosly ill pull the bolts and cover/insert when i race

Here's what I did. 4" down pipe with a homemade dump welded in then a home made 2.5" y pipe into some chambered mufflers. Nice and quite with the exhausted capped and all the power with the dump open. Way cheaper then a $300 cut out and takes like 20sec to open up.

The Hooker Maxflow was one of the quietest best flowing mufflers on a test done a few years back.

I'm a fan of the 4" dump with a 2" kick out to a stock muffler OEM muffler.

Space is going to be a big factor as most 4" mufflers are made for trucks. A cutout with 3" pipe behind that will be much easier to fit and have a lot more muffler options.

Dynomax ultraflo round case.

Diesel mufflers also work but usually alot longer length

I run a 5" by 30" mbrp diesel muffler on my car and it sounds awesome and no drone

Looks like I'm gonna end up with the Maxflow. Seems that it'll fit where I want it. Thanks everybody. Plus, I might be able to sneak another bullet type muffler under the car as well.

One last piece of info for you. I ran the 4" Magnaflow race series with a GT4788, pretty aggresive cam, and it was 88db making a pass at the track. We had to pass 90db sound to race past 10pm, so that's why it was checked. No drone.
