Default New build, 2 door Zephyr

So I picked up an old Zephyr today. I'm going to build this one a little differently than the mustang. This one will have power steering, air, cruise and a fully automatic 4L80E. The only reason I'm building it is to use all the spare parts I have laying around. Here's the breakdown on the build
5.3 with ls6 cam and pac 1218's everything else stock
Non intercooled mpt70 at 9-10psi
4L80E with shift kit probably stock converter
Stock computer with one of Denmah's tunes, homebuilt harness
Stock 8.8 with whatever gear is in it
Car will have the swaybar and all stock shocks/brakes etc for now
Car may get a truck dash as the car only has idiot lights in it but I would really like to keep it stock looking. Just looking to build a daily driver 10 second sleeper. Here's a pic of the old girl.

Sweet looking ride...

I have a really soft spot for "sleepers"

Your recipe is pretty much what I had planed for my LTD (except mine would have a IC) until I was screwed out of it...

Looking forward to your build.

Thanks. It may end up getting an IC I just don't know if one will fit without moving the ac and rad stuff around.

So I picked up a 4l80e for 300 bucks. Got a 2000 5.3 with computer, harness and dash for 250. Going to put a shift kit in the trans and run it as is. I will probably end up getting a converter for it as the trans is out of a diesel van.

I found an 8.8 with 3.31 gears for 300 bucks. Car only needed a signal light for a safety. Insurance for the year is only $181. Bought some 60lb injectors off the site for 250. Pretty funny that the injectors cost more than the motor/ECU and harness.

Nothing much to report but I did order the AJE K member, mounts and spring perches today. Transgo kit is on the way as well.
PS- anyone have a stock 4l80e converter laying around?
Parts cost me 762.75.

For the love of GOD, please don't do a hack and chop job on it. We really need someone to do a good quality swap on one of these cars. Something that is safe and reliable for years of driving enjoyment. cars like that don't come along very often and it deserves to be done with good quality.

Nothing will be getting cut on this car. It will be getting frame connectors and a slight tunnel rub for the 4l80e harness connector, that's it. That being said I'm not going to be dumping a bunch of money into it either. I'm building it as a daily driver. I want it to be comfortable, quiet and quick.

Got the motor in, started the stock fuel tank conversion and turbo placement has been finalized. Picked up a Walbro 450 for it.

Damn I posted some pictures up too many times, not familiar with the new photobucket format. I have the car running on one of Denmah's tunes with the stock injectors decapped. I had them flowed and they came in just shy of 80lbs. Not sure how accurate that is but will find out when I start tuning it.
How many start attempts should it take to get the car to fail the MAF? I've started it twice now and it still hasn't failed out.

So I have the car up and running pretty well on 7lbs so far. Car runs around 170 without the fan coming on, trans is about 130. I had issues figuring out the 4L80 tuning but that seems to be good now. My stock decapped injectors are at 38% duty cycle on 7lbs so it looks like I have some room there yet. Next up is getting the 3.55 geared 8.8 in. I can do 117mph in second gear at 6,000 rpm with the stock 2.73's, lol.
PS- the stock truck converter seems to be decent at this power level. Feels like a mid to low 11 second ride right now.

How far off were the decapped injectors vs 80lb tune?

I'm not sure to tell the truth. I used on of Denmah's tunes but it was really rich. I switched to another one of his VE tables and it was pretty close. I have the injectors set to 70lbs.

What are you using to load Denmah's tune on the stock ecu?

EDIT: found the answer in one of your other threads - HPTuners

Thought I would update this thread. Been driving the car a fair amount now on 5lbs. The stock converter is a bit lazy but it was free and this car may never make it to the strip. The only issue I'm having is a super hot alternator that I've rebuilt twice. Checked everything I can think of and can't figure it out. Weighed the car today 3,010lbs with zero weight reduction, iron block, 4l80e etc.
PS- ended up with 3.73 gears. Got the two step tuned on the factory ecu and going to try the sloppy trans brake mod just for fun.
