Default manual boost controller setup

I have a hallman manual boost controller. The instructions state I can use the intake manifold (post throttle body) for boost input. Wastegate instructions state to use pre throttle body boost input. Will both sources work well? Pros and cons?

Went through this myself a few weeks ago. I have mine ran from the compressor housing into the controller, then out of it where it says "wastegate", I have the line ran to the bottom of the gate. With a 4lb spring in the gate it would go as low as 6lbs and maxed out at 11.5lbs. I want more boost so I put a 9lb.spring in the gate and now my base pressure it 11 and should go as high as 19/20.

the biggest issue with boost sources is depending on how efficient your setup is there is boost pressure loss at certain points. For instance lets say you measure boost at your turbo compressor outlet and its 5psi, but at your intake you may only have 3psi due to pressure drop from your intercooler and piping. So i believe the best way it too use the source right at the compressor due to it being the most accurate, otherwise you may run into overboost/underboost issue if you use the manifold source.

You are correct, the closer to the feed source the better. I drilled and tapped my compressor housing and have absolutely 0 issues and holds boost really steady.
