The combination you mentioned seems to be the golden standard for junkyard builds. Bone stock everything 5.3 with ls9 cam and gaskets, new springs and injectors... Just add 15psi and enjoy. There is no step #2.

Factory LS1 rod bolts are rated to 7k rpm, after that ARP or Katech are highly suggested. Has that changed with newer versions?

It seems like the junk yard motors last longer than the LSX blocked high dollar builds.

Not exactly, the guys who drop $15k on a motor that blew up soon after aren't quite jumping up and down to brag about it. The guys who dropped $500 and blew it up can do it 30 times lol

What happened to the 370?

I don't get the whole rod bolt deal. The 1000hp turbo sbe is easier on bolts than a 400hp Na sbe spinning the same rpm

I still have it, that's my main motor. I was just bored and decided to pick this up as a spare.
