When installing an intercooler setup...??
When installing an intercooler setup...?? I am have Whipple on my 99 Silvy w/ a 5.3.
I am looking to build myself an air-air intercooler and actually found one that will work. Its from the 90-92 Grand Prix Turbo's.
The mounting location would be between the frame rails just behind my lower valance.
Now..here is my question. Most intercooled setups I have seen are a "push" style. Where the air is routed from the intake thru the s/c or turbo, then into the intercooler, and on into the engine. They way the setup I want to build would work is a "draw thru" style. The s/c would pull the air from the filter, thru the intercooler, up thru the s/c and then into the engine.
Is this a less effective way? Or will it work for my situation?
Btw, if I do go thru with this...I would only be pushing at max. 10lbs. of boost...

an intercooler cools off heated charged air.
you will not be able to cool off air, that is already ambient with your proposed setup.
also, that intercooler might be too small for your setup, those blowers move a good amount of air, and im not sure if the gp turbo one will be efficient of not.

I guess I'll have to re-route the piping a little bit...which will be pretty easy.
As for it not being enough...I am not sure, I am going to consult a local turbo guru before I make any attempts at fabricating this setup. He might even be able to throw in some ideas/suggestions that will help.
